St Bartholomew's Episcopal Church

St Bartholomew's Episcopal Church Since 1887, St Bart’s has been a witness to Christ in the Episcopal tradition. We are committed to showing God’s gracious love in all we do.

Today we are an inclusive community drawing members from the Skyway Marina district and around St Petersburg.

WOW! Look at all these donations!

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our monthly food drive for the Sanderlin Family Center. The generosity of our St. Bart’s community continues to amaze us! Because of you, we were able to fill an entire car with food and essential items for local families.

We are so grateful to everyone who gave and helped make this month’s collection such a success! ❤️

The Collect for Labor Day and a great reading from the Apocrypha

Almighty God, you have so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good; and, as we seek a proper return for our own labor, make us mindful of the rightful aspirations of other workers, and arouse our concern for those who are out of work; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The First Lesson
Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) 38:27-32a

So it is with every artisan and master artisan
who labours by night as well as by day;
those who cut the signets of seals,
each is diligent in making a great variety;
they set their heart on painting a lifelike image,
and they are careful to finish their work.
So it is with the smith, sitting by the anvil,
intent on his ironwork;
the breath of the fire melts his flesh,
and he struggles with the heat of the furnace;
the sound of the hammer deafens his ears,
and his eyes are on the pattern of the object.
He sets his heart on finishing his handiwork,
and he is careful to complete its decoration.
So it is with is the potter sitting at his work
and turning the wheel with his feet;
he is always deeply concerned over his products,
and he produces them in quantity.
He moulds the clay with his arm
and makes it pliable with his feet;
he sets his heart on finishing the glazing,
and he takes care in firing the kiln.

All these rely on their hands,
and all are skilful in their own work.
Without them no city can be inhabited,
and wherever they live, they will not go hungry.

What a joyful St. Bart’s Day! 💙⛪️

Today we celebrated The Feast of St. Bartholomew, Our Patron, welcomed our wonderful choir back from summer break 🎶, and gathered afterward for a delicious reception and time together. 🥐☕️

We are so grateful for everyone who worshiped, celebrated, served, sang, and shared in the fellowship that makes St. Bart’s such a special community.

Here are a few moments from a beautiful Sunday together! 📸✨

Collect for the Feast of St Bartholomew

Almighty and everlasting God, who gave to your apostle Bartholomew grace truly to believe and to preach your Word: Grant that your Church may love what he believed and preach what he taught; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
