Lyle and Eleanor Gittens of Florida have been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's oldest married couple, having spent an astonishing 83 years together. At ages 108 and 107, the couple also holds records for the oldest married couple ever by combined age. Married in 1942 during World War II, they built a life together through decades of change, raising three children and eventually welcoming grandchildren and great grandchildren. Their family says their commitment to one another never wavered, and their enduring relationship has become an inspiration to generations.

When asked for the secret to such a long and happy marriage, Lyle's answer was simple: "Love, love, love." The couple credits their lasting bond to genuine affection, mutual support, and enjoying life's simple pleasures together. Even after more than eight decades of marriage, they remain deeply devoted to each other and continue to live independently near family in Miami. Their remarkable love story serves as a powerful reminder that lasting relationships are built on friendship, commitment, and choosing each other every day.

Isaiah 40:30-31
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

WAITING ON THE LORD RENEWS OUR STRENGTH!

WAIT!

Death is always near. It pops up in our feeds, in our group chats, and in early morning phone calls. Yesterday, while scrolling, I saw that Peabo Bryson died. I immediately played his music. "If Every You're In My Arms Again." I even posted the video.

I think about death and grief often. Every single day, in fact. I'm a Theo-Thanatologist.

Anyway, there are things that I appreciate about social media. There are also things that anger me about social media. Sometimes people die, and we post before we think. We mean well and miss terribly.

Here are a few things to consider. This is not everything, but its a few things to consider.

Remember, we have some availability in the fall for training and workshops. Reach out now. If you would like to join our year-long program, let me know. This is for folks who are learning to companion grief in people, in organizations... It's a commitment. For both of us.
