Vedanta Center of St. Petersburg

Vedanta Center of St. Petersburg The Vedanta Center of St. Petersburg, Florida, is a non-profit religious organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Florida.

The Center has been a branch of the Ramakrishna Order of India since 2006. The Center bases its teachings on the system of Vedanta, especially as lived and taught by Sri Ramakrishna (1836-1886) and his disciple Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902). Vedanta teaches that every soul is potentially divine and that the goal of life is to manifest this divinity. Vedanta reveals the underlying harmony of all religions and points out that they are different approaches to one and the same Reality.

Swami Adbhutananda – Every action brings a corresponding result. A man will get social merit through his philanthropic activities, but if his ego is involved in those activities, he will not get any spiritual merit. Even the result of a good action turns into a bo***ge if it is done with ego. None can escape the wheel of karma through self-motivated action. For further reading click on the link below.

The light that shines above the heavens and above this world, the light that shines in the highest world, beyond which there are no others – that is the light that shines in the hearts of men.

Truly has this universe come forth from Brahman. In Brahman it lives and has its being, assuredly, all is Brahman. Let a man, freed from the taint of passion, worship Brahman alone. For further reading click on the link below.

Swami Saradananda – ‘You have no rights to the results of your work’, the result depends on various factors among which your effort is only one. The aspirant must try all means for the fulfillment of his immediate duty but should not get disappointed if he is not successful. For though one of the factors may be fulfilled well, yet the work may not turn out successful for want of the other factors. For further reading click on the link below.

“If one practices meditation and Japa regularly along with work, then there will be no trouble. We have to work, that is certain. But then if one does not practice meditation, Japa, etc., along with work, then one will not be able to work in the right spirit. The whole trouble is with ‘me’ and ‘mine’, which always seeks comfort. Meditation and Japa are absolutely necessary – there should be no lapse in them. For further reading click on the link below.

What is the status assigned to women by the finest aspects of Hindu religion? Whatever that may be but a glimpse of that could be found in the life of Holy Mother Sarada Devi. That was enacted as a great drama of love and divinity. Her ideal was a complete identification with her husband’s aspiration to realize God on earth and for a total spiritual conquest of the nature of man. For further reading click on the link below.
