Faith In Christ - A Command!

Sinners are never invited to come to Christ. They are commanded to come to Christ. Faith in Christ is not something we are invited to do. It is a command! It is not an act of presumption for me to believe, if God has commanded me to. It is also a great mercy to us for Christ to say, “He that believeth not shall be damned.” God commands me to believe on His Son. I am informed that I will be damned if I do not. I see clearly that I cannot be saved by my worth, works, or will. Faith in Christ is not a response to an invitation, nor is it a choice we make. It is obedience to the command of God because we really have no other alternative. ~Todd Nibert

Someone said, “If I knew I were one of God’s elect, I would come to Christ; but I fear I am not.” To you I answer - Nobody ever came to Christ because he knew himself to be of the elect. It is quite true that God has of His good pleasure elected some to everlasting life, but they never knew it until they believed on Christ. Christ nowhere commands the elect to come to Him. He commands all men everywhere to repent and believe the Gospel. The question for you is not, “Am I one of the elect?” but “Am I a sinner?” Am I in need of Christ to wash away my sins? Am I in need of His righteousness to clothe my nakedness? Is He my one and only hope for salvation?” Christ came to save sinners.

What is The Mind of Christ?

By nature, our hearts toward God are as cold, hard and lifeless as stone. In the new birth God says He will give us a new heart. Ez. 36:26. So what is the characteristic of this new heart compared to the old heart? David tells us in Ps. 51. The new heart is “Broken and Contrite”. If something is broken, it doesn’t work. It’s not reliable. In the new birth we come to see that our thoughts and affections (mind and heart) are broken. They cannot be trusted. He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool. Prov. 28:26. We are made to see that the mind of Christ revealed in the Word of God is our only reliable source for faith and practice. Which brings us to the “Contrite” part of the new heart. It is a willing and compliant heart. The mind and heart are now teachable to the things of God. Not only are they teachable but they are made to prefer God’s way to man’s way. Only the new heart will say gladly; not my will, but Thy will be done. That is the mind of Christ.

We believe that the work of regeneration, conversion, sanctification and faith, is not an act of man’s free will and power, but of the mighty, efficacious and irresistible grace of God.

The believer is perfect in Christ, but in himself is a poor feeble creature, ever liable to fall. Oh, the blessedness of having One who can manage all his affairs for him at the right hand of the Majesty in the Heavens: One who upholds him continually by the right hand of His righteousness: One who will never let him go: One who is able to save to the uttermost: One who is the same yesterday, today, and forever: One who will bear him triumphantly through all the difficulties and dangers that surround him and finally, present him faultless before the presence of His Glory with exceeding joy. Blessed forever be the grace that has made such ample provision for all our sins in the Blood of a spotless victim and the intercession of a Divine High Priest.

Truth!

05/18/2026

When we speak of ourselves as wretched and vile sinners, many will not be able to understand. Some will think we are excusing some secret shameful lifestyle. Others will conclude we are beaten down with a “low self-esteem”. Some may even think we are just trying to sound pious and humble. Those who have never stood in the presence of a holy God, have no way to judge themselves properly. All they can do is compare themselves to other men. Of course, they will always find something (usually much) in themselves that qualifies as “good”. Only those who find themselves in the presence of a holy God are able to conclude; in me, that is in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing. Only they will believe that there is but One who is good. Only they will flee in faith to Christ for all their righteousness before God.
