Thanks to everyone who participated in our work day at Partners for Housing’s Union Street Place this past weekend!

They do such important work here in St. Peter, providing emergency shelter and transitional housing for our neighbors facing homelessness — we’re honored to be able to support them.

An Announcement from Pastor Andy

For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven.
-- Ecclesiastes 3:1

Dear Union Presbyterian Church Family,

It is with heartfelt sadness that I announce to you my resignation as your pastor on August 16, 2026.

I began my ministry with you in March of 2010. These last sixteen years have been a great blessing as we worshiped, prayed, studied, talked, met, worked, and lived in Christ with each other. I’m at a loss for words as I type this -- I can’t even begin to summarize what being your pastor has meant to me.

Every season must come to an end, and I have discerned that this summer will be a good time for my call to Union to be dissolved. This congregation is strong and healthy, with capable leadership on the session and board of deacons, which will ease the upcoming pastoral transition.

I am applying to a masters program to become a clinical mental health counselor. If I am accepted, I will begin in late August. I am excited to return to school to learn new skills to help people. Perhaps one day I will integrate what I learn into a new call in ministry.

I will cherish our next three months together here at Union.

Grace and Peace,

Andy

A statement from our denomination:

04/04/2026

Iona Abbey, in almost total darkness, we watch and wait for the dawn...

'Jesus,
you descended into death and in so doing participated fully in our humanity.

When we can't imagine a way forward,
when life and hope seem absent from our circumstances,
be with us.

May we not avoid our suffering or pain
but instead cultivate within us the ability to face our experience
with honesty and with clarity.

As we journey through the valley of the shadow of death,
journey with us.
When our hearts are broken,
be near.

Like a flower that withers and a shadow that fades
may we be able to see beauty
even in the midst of our fragile lives.

May we sit long enough in the graveyard to be able to see the garden that surrounds us.
Amen'
