Over 80 parishioners joined to give witness to Jesus’ presence in the Blessed Sacrament and the Back to the 50s celebration at the State Fair even got a special blessing!

💬 When Mary saw they were running out of wine, she realized that there was another wine that was missing: the wine served at the messianic banquet. Jesus is the Messiah; she knew that from the moment He was conceived in her womb. But what is He doing? When will He give that wine? In that context, Jesus’ answer is apropos. He understood the question well and told His Mother that the hour of the messianic banquet had not yet come.

What do we learn from this? First, a better understanding of Mary. You have heard and repeated, as I have, the classical interpretation of this text: see how Mary is such a good mother. She pays attention to details and intercedes with her Son so that He will help us. This interpretation is poor, first because it implies that Jesus does not care about us, does not pay attention to the difficulties of our lives, but fortunately, the Father gave Him a human mother who does care about us. This is absurd. Jesus does care about us. Mary does not love us more than Jesus does.

On the other hand, Mary is not just a good mother limited to caring about the small problems of our daily lives. More than everything else, she cares about the Salvation of the world. She is a great theologian, a great intercessor, and an incredible saint who is always seeking to do God’s will. I cannot find the words to express this clearly, but I would like you to realize, if necessary, that Mary is so much more than just a kind, loving mom.
