Do you ever feel like you need to get your life together before you can really pray?

The Psalms remind us that prayer doesn't begin with having it all figured out. They hold joy and gratitude, but also fear, anger, sorrow, and guilt - along with the honest desire to begin again.

Psalm 51 starts from exactly that place:
"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love."
~ Psalm 51:1

If you read the whole psalm you will see that you don't have to wait until you feel holy enough to pray.

Take one minute today.
Read Psalm 51 slowly.
Notice which words sound like they could be your own.

That one minute may seem small, but small beginnings matter.
