Mount Pleasant Cemetery

Mount Pleasant Cemetery Mount Pleasant is a non-profit cemetery and crematory in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont. There is usually someone in the office from 9 am to 3 pm, weekdays.

Our mission is to serve our community, preserve our history, and maintain our cemetery as a brilliant space for both the living and the dead. Generally speaking, the cemetery opens to vehicles on Mother's Day weekend in May and closes right after Veterans Day in November. Pedestrians are welcome any time of the year, with caution and unless posted at the entrances, from sunrise to 7 pm (winter: su

nrise to 4 pm). However, office personnel sometimes have to step out to go into the cemetery or run errands.

Congratulations to Peggy Pearl, President of the Mount Pleasant Board of Trustees, for being presented with the Franklin Fairbanks Award. Thank you for keeping Saint Johnsbury's history alive!

Peggy Pearl received the Franklin Fairbanks Award for her dedication to preserving and protecting the unique history of St. Johnsbury. The honor recognizes her leadership and vision that established the St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center. Pearl was celebrated by Mark Breen for her 37 years as an educator at the Fairbanks Museum. During her time at the Museum, she launched the Festival of Traditional Crafts, which brought together artisans and crafters who demonstrated skills and knowledge about tools and techniques that were once common in northern New England farms and communities. Thank you, Liz Sargent and Tom Daniels for these photos!
