MAY 1ST IS FILLED WITH CELEBRATIONS!

✓ Feast of St. Joseph the Worker
✓ First Friday Devotion to Sacred Heart
✓ First Day of Flores de Mayo, Mary’s Month

May 1 is a beautiful day of faith, devotion, and thanksgiving. The Church honors St. Joseph the Worker, reminding us that honest work has dignity and can become an offering to God. Through St. Joseph’s humble example, we learn that holiness can be found in daily responsibilities, quiet sacrifice, and faithful service.

This day also leads us closer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the source of mercy, love, and healing. At the same time, the beginning of Flores de Mayo invites us to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary throughout the month of May with prayer, flowers, and devotion. Together, these celebrations remind us to work with love, trust in Christ’s heart, and walk under Mary’s gentle guidance.

✝️ WHY DO WE WEAR RED ON PALM SUNDAY… EVEN DURING LENT?😳
_______________________
Lent is a season of penance, silence, and purple.

So when Palm Sunday comes, something feels… different.

Suddenly:

The color changes

The tone shifts

And the Church is no longer in quiet mourning

👉 We wear RED.

Why?

This is not a contradiction.
It is a revelation.

✝️ RED IS THE COLOR OF BLOOD… AND VICTORY

In the Church, red is never random.

It represents:

The blood of Christ

The blood of martyrs

Sacrifice unto death

So when red appears on Palm Sunday, the Church is already telling you:

👉 “This story is not about celebration alone…”
👉 “It is about a death that is coming.”

Before the Cross arrives on Good Friday…
the Church already shows you the color of the Cross.

✝️ PALM SUNDAY IS NOT JUST A PROCESSION… IT IS A PASSION

Many people think Palm Sunday is only about:

Palms

Hosanna

Celebration

But the liturgy does something shocking:

👉 It reads the Passion of Christ.

The same Mass that begins with joy…
ends with the story of suffering and crucifixion.

So the red vestments are not misplaced.

They are perfectly placed.

Because Palm Sunday holds two realities at once:

A King being welcomed

A Victim preparing to die

✝️ THE CROWD SAW A KING… THE CHURCH SEES A SACRIFICE

The people waved palms thinking:

👉 “Victory is here!”

But the Church, guided by the Spirit, sees deeper:

👉 “The Lamb is being led to slaughter.”

Red exposes what the crowd could not see:

This is not the beginning of power

This is the beginning of sacrifice

✝️ FROM PALMS TO BLOOD

There is a hidden movement on this day:

Palms in the hands

But blood in the future

The branches are green…
but the liturgy is already red.

Why?

Because the Church refuses to let you misunderstand the moment.

👉 The victory of Christ will not come through applause…
👉 It will come through shedding of blood

✝️ WHY THIS MATTERS FOR YOU

Palm Sunday is uncomfortable if you pay attention.

Because it asks a serious question:

Do you follow Christ only in moments of glory?

Or will you follow Him into sacrifice?

The red vestment is a warning:

👉 You cannot celebrate the King…
without accepting His Cross.

✝️ THE FINAL TRUTH

We wear red on Palm Sunday because the Church is telling the truth the crowd missed:

👉 The King they welcomed…
is the Lamb who will be slain.

The celebration is real.
But the sacrifice is closer than they think.

And the color reveals it.
