🚨 SCAM ALERT – ST. JAMES AREA 🚨

We have been made aware of a scam hitting our area this week involving individuals who are spoofing the St. James Police Department’s phone number, 573-699-8041.

The scammers are reportedly calling residents and attempting to sell home security systems, while making it appear on Caller ID that the call is coming from the St. James Police Department.

⚠️ PLEASE KNOW:

The St. James Police Department will NOT call you to sell you anything.

We will NOT ask to come to your home to demonstrate or set up a security system.

Seeing 573-699-8041 on your Caller ID does NOT mean the call is actually coming from our department. Scammers can spoof phone numbers and make almost any number appear on Caller ID.

If you receive a suspicious call:

❌ Do not provide personal or financial information.
❌ Do not agree to let someone into your home based solely on a phone call.
❌ Do not trust Caller ID alone.
📵 Hang up and verify who is calling using a phone number you know is legitimate.

When in doubt, hang up and call us directly.

We have seen an increase in scams targeting our area, and we want our community to stay informed, smart, and safe.

If it sounds suspicious — it probably is.

Route 66 Prayer Tour will be held through September 2nd at 3 locations along historic Route 66. Prayer gatherings will begin each evening at 6:30 PM.

The locations are as follows:

Monday, August 31 at First Baptist Church in St James
Tuesday, September 1 at First Baptist Church in Marshfield
Wednesday, September 2 at Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin

The Route 66 Prayer Tour will be held August 30th through September 2nd at four locations along historic Route 66. Prayer gatherings will begin each evening at 6:30 PM.

The four locations are as follows:

Sunday, August 30 at First Baptist Church of Crestwood in St. Louis
Monday, August 31 at First Baptist Church in St. James
Tuesday, September 1 at First Baptist Church in Marshfield
Wednesday, September 2 at Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin
