Gracious and loving God,
You have promised through the prophet Joel, “I will pour out my Spirit on all people.”
Today, we open our hearts to that promise. Remind us that your Spirit is not reserved for a chosen few, but is poured out upon all people—young and old, strong and weary, hopeful and hurting.
Help us to recognize the power you have placed within each of us. We hold the power to love, to forgive, to serve, to speak truth, to dream, and to bring hope into a hurting world. Open our hearts, our minds, and our spirits so that we may receive all that you are pouring out upon us.
We especially pray for those who feel lost. For those who are hurting. For those whose hearts are heavy with sadness, grief, fear, or loneliness. When the way ahead is unclear, let them feel your Spirit surrounding them. When they are weary, give them strength. When they feel alone, remind them that they are held in your love.
Pour out your Spirit upon us, O God. Fill the empty places. Heal the wounded places. Renew the places where hope has grown dim.
May we be open to your Spirit moving among us and within us. May we recognize that your presence is near, your love is powerful, and your Spirit is still being poured out upon all people.
May we become that Spirit. May we share that Spirit. And may we become vessels of your hope, love, healing, and peace for one another.
