What do your conversations reveal about what is on your heart?

One of the signs of a mature Christian is that our conversations begin to reflect what we truly value. When Christ is precious to us—when we understand what He has done for us and glory in Him—it's hard to keep Him from becoming part of our conversations.

Paul says in Romans 15 that he has reason to boast in what God has accomplished through him “in Christ Jesus.” His focus isn't on himself. His joy, his ministry, and his conversation all keep coming back to Christ.

And maybe that's a good question for us:

When we talk with people, how often does the conversation naturally lead us to Christ?

Not because we're forcing it. Not because we're trying to sound spiritual. But because He is what fills our hearts.

A mature Christian doesn't just know more about Christ. They treasure Him more—and what we treasure has a way of showing up in what we talk about.

What does a mature Christian actually look like?

Romans 15:14–33 gives us a picture as Paul speaks about the church in Rome. These believers weren't perfect, but Paul saw something in them: their faith was producing maturity.

They were full of goodness.
They knew the truth.
They were able to encourage one another.
They were passionate about the gospel.
And they were willing to be used by God beyond themselves.

Spiritual maturity isn't just about how much Bible we know. It's about what that truth is producing in our lives.

Are we becoming people who encourage others?
Are we growing in goodness?
Are we willing to step outside our comfort zone for the sake of the gospel?
Are we looking for ways God can use us—not just what He can do for us?

It's easy to measure spiritual growth by what we know. Paul challenges us to look at what our faith is producing.

So ask yourself: Is my faith becoming more visible in the way I live, serve, encourage, and love others?

What does the world see when they look at our church?

Romans 15 reminds us that our unity, our love for one another, and the way we welcome others are not small things. They are part of our witness to who God is.

“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” — Romans 15:7

When we put aside our preferences, bear with one another, pursue unity, and welcome others as Christ welcomed us, God is glorified through His church.

So here’s the challenge:
Are we making it easier for people to see Christ when they walk through our doors—or are we making it harder?

Love one another.
Make room for others.
Pursue unity.

Let the world see something of the glory of God through the way His people love.

🌟 You're Welcome 🌟

Romans 15 challenges us to look beyond simply being a friendly church. Paul calls us to something much deeper: to bear with one another, build one another up, and willingly put the good of others ahead of our own preferences.

That isn't always easy. It's easy to welcome people who think like us, worship like us, or fit comfortably into our lives. But Christian welcome asks something more of us.

“Welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you.”

Christ didn't welcome us because we had earned it. He welcomed us in grace, served us at great cost, and made us part of His people. And now that same grace should shape the way we treat one another.

A healthy church isn't built around getting our own way. It's built around becoming more like Christ.

And when a church learns to lay down its preferences, bear with one another, and make room for others, something bigger happens: we glorify God together, with one voice.

👑 Who Defines You? 👑

Romans 14 reminds us that everything we do — eat, drink, live, die — is meant to be unto the Lord.
Paul writes, “If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord.” (Romans 14:8)

That means Christ isn’t just part of your life — He is your life.
He’s not your weekend focus or your social influencer, He’s your identity.

If, in your heart of hearts, your relationship with Jesus isn’t the ambition that drives you…
then He isn’t truly your Lord — and probably not your Savior.

Let your life be defined by the One who gave His for you.
