Something About Time - Sunday Sermon Recap
This Sunday, we were reminded of a truth that often challenges our perspective: time is precious, but it is not absolute. While we are bound by clocks, calendars, and schedules, God is not. He created time, stands outside of it, and works all things according to His perfect timing.
Beginning in Psalm 90, we reflected on the brevity of our days and the importance of using the time God has given us wisely. Through the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-20), we were reminded that even when we waste time, God's mercy is waiting for those who return to Him.
Scripture showed us that God has authority over time itself. He created it, He governs it, and He can do the impossible within it—as seen when Joshua prayed, and God caused the sun to stand still (Joshua 10:12).
Throughout the message, we were challenged with some important questions:
• Am I rushing ahead of God's timing?
• Am I wasting the time He has given me?
• Am I working with God's timing or against it?
• If I'm not looking for God's timing, what am I looking for?
Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us that there is a season for everything, while Isaiah 38 and Revelation 1:3 point us toward the urgency of living faithfully in the time we have been given. We cannot save time or store it up for later. Once it is spent, it is gone.
As believers, we are called to stay alert (1 Peter 5:8-9), remember the faith we first had in Christ, and anchor ourselves firmly in Him. Our confidence comes from knowing that our times are not left to chance.
"My times are in Your hand." — Psalm 31:15
May we leave this week with a renewed desire to trust God's timing, steward our moments wisely, and walk faithfully in the purpose He has prepared for us.
