You grew up in the same house. Same stories, same holidays, same version of Mom before any of this started. So why can't you and your siblings agree on her care?

Here's how we celebrate birthdays at A Home for the Day:

🎉 We ask everyone: "What do you appreciate about this person?"
📝 We write it all down in our individual gratitude journals
🎂 We sing, light a candle, and share cupcakes or ice cream
📖 We read every kind word out loud — to them, in front of everyone
💛 They take home a printed copy to keep

For members living with dementia especially, this moment is powerful. They may not remember every detail of the day — but they feel the love in the room. And that feeling stays.

It's one of our favorite traditions.
