Adam Saltmarsh, director of operations for the Parishes on the Prairie ACC writes that as Catholics, we are not called to see change only through the darkness of what is being lost. We are called to see it through the light of faith.

The celebration brought the community together in prayer, remembrance and gratitude for those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms and those currently serving. The day reminds us not only to mourn the fallen but also to carry forward their legacy of courage, selflessness and love for others.

When Pat Timmerman speaks about her son, 1st Lt. Jason Gary Timmerman, it is with a mixture of pride, tenderness and the steady faith that has carried her family through unimaginable loss.

1st Lt. Jason Timmerman, a member of the Minnesota National Guard’s 151st Field Artillery, was killed Feb. 21, 2005, along with Staff Sgt. David Day and Sgt. Jesse Lhotka, when an explosive device detonated as they carried an injured comrade to a medical helicopter in Iraq. He was 24.
