“THE CHASTENING OF THE LORD – Part 3” -Pastor Mark Johnson

“Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.” (Heb. 12:9-10)

Parents who discipline their children properly are eventually respected for doing so. How much more should we respect the chastening that comes from God our heavenly Father? Chastening of the Lord is for our benefit. Chastening isn’t pleasant at the time, but, if we respond properly, it leads to a more righteous life. How are you responding to the chastening of the Lord? Are you allowing it to refine you and further partake of His holiness?
