“Grace for Imperfect People”

One of the most comforting details in Matthew 28 is this:

“They worshiped him, but some doubted.”

Even after the resurrection, some disciples still struggled. They still had questions. Fear. Uncertainty.

And Jesus still called them.
Still stayed with them.
Still trusted them with good news.

Mental Health Awareness Month reminds us that faith and struggle can exist at the same time. You do not have to be perfectly confident, emotionally put together, or spiritually certain for God to meet you with grace.

✨ Reflection: What would change if you gave yourself the same grace God gives you?

“You Don’t Have to Carry It Alone”

Jesus’ final words to his disciples in Matthew 28 are not “Try harder” or “Figure it all out.”

He says:
“I am with you always.”

For people carrying anxiety, burnout, loneliness, grief, or uncertainty, that matters.

Mental health struggles can make us feel isolated or like we have to hold everything together on our own. But the promise of Jesus is presence, not pressure.

Before sending the disciples into the world, Jesus reminds them they will not go alone.

And maybe we need that reminder too.

✨ Reflection: What helps you remember you don’t have to carry everything by yourself?

☀️ Worship, Rest & Community 🌿

Jesus is all about community. He has a back for bringing people of all walks of like together. As we take a look at John 20, we see Jesus after his resurrection about to tell His disciples 4 words that still make an impact today.

In a world that moves fast and often leaves people exhausted, disconnected, or overwhelmed, peace can feel hard to find. During Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminded that caring for our spiritual, emotional, and relational well-being matters.

This Sunday, we’ll gather outdoors for worship and a church picnic—a simple chance to reconnect with God, one another, and the joy of community.

Peace in the Middle of Fear

The disciples were gathered behind locked doors, overwhelmed and afraid of what might happen next. In the midst of uncertainty, Jesus spoke 4 words of comfort:

“Peace be with you.”

During Mental Health Awareness Month, this reminder matters. Many people are carrying stress, burnout, grief, anxiety, or emotional exhaustion that others cannot see.

John 20 reminds us that Jesus meets us gently in fearful places. He will calm our fears with peace, presence, and care.

✨ Reflection: What would inner peace look like for you?

Making Space for What Matters

In the middle of everything ahead of him, Jesus pauses and prays.

John 17 reminds us that even Jesus made space to connect with God in moments of stress, uncertainty, and deep emotion.

Mental Health Awareness Month is a good reminder that slowing down isn’t weakness. It’s wisdom.

Prayer. Rest. Honest conversations. Asking for help. These are not signs of failure. They are ways we care for the minds and hearts God has given us. God does not expect perfection. He meets us where we are at, prays and holds us close.

🧠 How can you create space this week for your emotional and spiritual wellbeing?

🙏🏻 Held in Prayer

In John 17, Jesus prays for his disciples.

Before the cross. Before the grief. Before everything changes.

He stops to pray for the people He loves. He wanted to protect them, sustain them, and remind them they belong to God.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, this matters. Because when life feels heavy, overwhelming, or uncertain, it helps to remember: you are not carrying it alone.

Jesus holds us in prayer.
God sees the weight we carry.
And we are deeply held in love.

🧠 What is one burden you are carrying right now?

Love as Care

Jesus connects love with action:

“If you love me, keep my commands.”

One of the ways we live out love is by caring deeply and honestly for ourselves and for each other.

Mental health matters. Rest matters. Asking for help matters.

Following Jesus doesn’t mean pretending we’re okay when we’re not. It means living truthfully, extending compassion, and making space for healing.

The Holy Spirit is called the Advocate, the One who comes alongside us. What if part of loving like Jesus means coming alongside one another too?

Checking in. Listening. Showing up.

✨ Reflection: Where in your life might you need compassion, presence, or a simple check-in right now?
