We would like to thank everyone that came out last week to participate in the Bethany Women Phoenix Rising Project. Participants created alcohol ink feathers for a community sculpture centered on hope and healing. What a beautiful way to share the love of God in such a physical and spiritual way. Want to join us for our next event? Stay up to date by following us on social media and by joining us Sunday mornings at 9:30. We will have a seat ready for you!

More Than Words

Jesus ends the Sermon on the Mount with a challenge:

It’s not enough to simply hear his words.
The invitation is to put them into practice.

Anyone can talk about faith.
The harder work is living it.

Loving your neighbor when it’s inconvenient.
Offering forgiveness when it’s difficult.
Choosing integrity when no one is watching.

Jesus compares this kind of life to building a house on rock. Storms will come—but a strong foundation holds.

✨ Reflection: What is one teaching of Jesus that you want to practice more intentionally this week?

ā€œGrace for Imperfect Peopleā€

One of the most comforting details in Matthew 28 is this:

ā€œThey worshiped him, but some doubted.ā€

Even after the resurrection, some disciples still struggled. They still had questions. Fear. Uncertainty.

And Jesus still called them.
Still stayed with them.
Still trusted them with good news.

Mental Health Awareness Month reminds us that faith and struggle can exist at the same time. You do not have to be perfectly confident, emotionally put together, or spiritually certain for God to meet you with grace.

✨ Reflection: What would change if you gave yourself the same grace God gives you?

ā€œYou Don’t Have to Carry It Aloneā€

Jesus’ final words to his disciples in Matthew 28 are not ā€œTry harderā€ or ā€œFigure it all out.ā€

He says:
ā€œI am with you always.ā€

For people carrying anxiety, burnout, loneliness, grief, or uncertainty, that matters.

Mental health struggles can make us feel isolated or like we have to hold everything together on our own. But the promise of Jesus is presence, not pressure.

Before sending the disciples into the world, Jesus reminds them they will not go alone.

And maybe we need that reminder too.

✨ Reflection: What helps you remember you don’t have to carry everything by yourself?

ā˜€ļø Worship, Rest & Community 🌿

Jesus is all about community. He has a back for bringing people of all walks of like together. As we take a look at John 20, we see Jesus after his resurrection about to tell His disciples 4 words that still make an impact today.

In a world that moves fast and often leaves people exhausted, disconnected, or overwhelmed, peace can feel hard to find. During Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminded that caring for our spiritual, emotional, and relational well-being matters.

This Sunday, we’ll gather outdoors for worship and a church picnic—a simple chance to reconnect with God, one another, and the joy of community.

šŸ“… Sunday, May 24
ā° 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
šŸ“ Delnor Woods Park Pavilion | St. Charles

We’ll share worship, grilled burgers and hot dogs, games, laughter, and time together in the fresh air. Bring a dish to pass, blankets or chairs, and any outdoor games you’d like to share!

Peace in the Middle of Fear

The disciples were gathered behind locked doors, overwhelmed and afraid of what might happen next. In the midst of uncertainty, Jesus spoke 4 words of comfort:

ā€œPeace be with you.ā€

During Mental Health Awareness Month, this reminder matters. Many people are carrying stress, burnout, grief, anxiety, or emotional exhaustion that others cannot see.

John 20 reminds us that Jesus meets us gently in fearful places. He will calm our fears with peace, presence, and care.

✨ Reflection: What would inner peace look like for you?
