Spring always sneaks up on me. It slips in, sometimes looking like winter and sometimes looking like summer. But no matter what, Spring has a personality all it's own. No Spring is the same.
It amazes me that it doesn't matter what it looks like today, you can hear the familiar ponderings, "Remember last spring?" or "Remember the spring of 1982, didn't we have snow then?" Instead of being in the moment when we could be experiencing the feel, smells and sounds of this spring. In Missouri, we have the feeling of community as we clean up after a storm. Sounds of chainsaws and people coming together to help their neighbor. We speak greetings with, "How are you? Did you make it through the storm ok?" Sometimes our conversations end with, "I know someone that could help you," because with all storms, we experience the clean-up. Side by side we work to restore what was damaged. Our Heavenly Father does that in our very souls as He restores us after the storms that rage in us. He is our hope and strength.
And we know next spring will be different. I want to challenge you to not miss a thing this spring! Enjoy the weather. Be amazed at the new green growth around you. Regardless of the storm, count your blessings.
Take 60 seconds everyday to say hello to Spring.

Sending so much love to everyone working through grief ❤️

Time doesn’t heal grief. Healing heals grief, and your healing will look different to others. Be patient, and don’t compare your journey to others or let others define how you should heal. I’ve done a few podcasts on how to move through grief and planning on doing more so if you have specific questions let me know in the comments!

And be sure to subscribe to my podcast so you never miss an episode! Just look for Cleaning up the Mental Mess wherever you listen to podcasts or visit: https://anchor.fm/cleaningupthementalmess

It is a new year and a new opportunity for growth and redirection. 2021 is bringing new adventures and new challenges so before I even get started I want to have a plan as easy as ABC and 1-2-3. I know not every endeavor will turn out exactly as I hope so I want to be able to give myself some grace.
I know failure comes in wearing many different masks. Sometimes it’s failing to find the answers to questions I don’t even know to ask. Or being rejected by a standard that I won’t understand. And then there are the obvious rejections, your work doesn’t fit our needs, genre, or audience. So many times I can see the end result but it’s as though I’m not able to reach any further than the glass window that separates my reflection and the trophy. So how do I get past the failure without giving up? I have decided to plan for failure and rejection as these new books and manuscripts are ready for submissions. I know it’s part of the process. I will take some time to check out the A-B-C and the 1-2-3 steps by allowing myself the time to process and to be able to move towards success.
A -allow myself some grace to take time to process without wallering in self-pity.
B - be kind to myself, to others and to the situation. I have a tendency to forget that I don’t have to beat myself up just because I fail. It’s important to remember that I’m moving forward one step at a time in the process.
C-Catalyst. Let the failure, rejection or choice be a catalyst to move me in the right direction. Then I will look at the 1-2-3.
1. Re-evaluate the process with the consideration of the what, where, when and why.
2. Review other options. I’m not backed into a corner or left by the curb. I have options.
3. Redirect. Processes are many, always reoccurring, the hard part is looking and finding the right one.
2021 will be a year of intentional growth for me by knowing upfront life is hard. I am holding firm in my heart that by the grace of God and diligently persevering I am able and so are you! Make 2021 the year of your success.
