Saginaw Knights of Columbus 4232

Saginaw Knights of Columbus 4232 We are part of the largest Catholic fraternal family service organizations in the world! Mary’s Church in New Haven, Connecticut. Through fearless service.

“There are no strangers here, only friends we haven’t met” … This is the saying on a banner that hangs in our lounge. But more importantly it has become the statement that has defined our council. We a welcoming and hospitable group of Catholic men and their families that has allowed us to grow into the largest council in the Diocese of Saginaw, and one of the largest in the state. Imagine being p

art of an organization that fills your heart and mind with the joy of giving to others and the feeling that comes with making a difference. Our Knights are Catholic men committed to making their community a better place, while supporting their Church. Being a Knight is more than camaraderie; it is being involved with your community; it is supporting your local Church, while enhancing your own faith; it is about protecting and enhancing your family life. We are men of faith — 1.6 million members strong, and growing around the world. Believing that a man is defined by his actions as a follower of God, and as a leader in his community. Believing that a man is more than simply a man, when he bears the title of “Knight.”

In 1882, Father Michael J. McGivney invited a small group of parishioners to gather in the basement of St. His goal was simple — to establish an Order that would unite men in their faith as well as help provide for Catholic families in times of need. It was in that humblest of beginnings that the Knights of Columbus was founded. Today, we are still guided by four core principles — charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. It’s through these five areas of service—faith, community, family, youth, and fellowship—that we truly make a difference. We support local athletic programs, sponsor special events and plan and host religious activities. Our Knights serve as valuable role models for other Catholic men, as well as mentors for all our children. And, hopefully, as a source of inspiration for future generations of Knights. Today, we’re looking for the next generation of Knights. Men of character and conviction who are driven by both faith and conscience to do truly meaningful works. And the tangible rewards for members are numerous, from scholarships for our sons and daughters, to being able to participate in one of the leading insurance programs in the country. But of the countless rewards Knighthood offers, perhaps the most inviting is this: The knowledge that you can make a difference. Through heartfelt perseverance. And, above all, through unfaltering fellowship.

FOLLOW ROCHESTER COUNCIL 5452’S ASAP CELEBRATION OF 38 “BLESSED MOTHERS”

What if …

What if, you could deliver an ASAP program which provided more than $24,000 in benefits to pregnancy resource centers and the mothers they serve? What if you could provide more than $300 worth of baby merchandise (layettes, cribs, strollers, playpens, etc.) to each of 38 mothers, AND provide $12,000 funding to each of five different pregnancy centers? What if, you could also provide a great dinner for those mothers, their families, and your parishioners in a program featuring motherhood in scripture and a testimonial about an incredible and determined mother who raised her sons out of Detroit’s notorious public housing projects to become highly successful business leaders. And what if you could also do all of that at zero cost to your council budget? Would you do it? Why would you not do it?

Would you like to know how to do it? Fr. Baumgartner Council 5452 in Rochester did all of the above in May of this year in a project entitled “A Blessed Mothers Celebration of Motherhood,” and they wish to pass on the template for how to repeat it in your council.

This program was the brainchild of one insuppressible knight, who was entertained with skepticism but allowed to charge ahead. The program gained momentum of its own and became wildly successful. It is amazing what the Holy Spirit will do when you unleash Him. Allow the Spirit to work through your council as well. Faith, Fellowship, and a 16-16 Tie: The 3rd Annual and Bats for Vocations

TRAVERSE CITY — Sunshine, smiles, and a spirited community spirit filled Turtle Creek Stadium on May 24, as the Diocese of Ga***rd gathered for the 3rd annual Bats for Vocations softball game.

The free-will donation event brought together hundreds of attendees and raised approximately $5,000 to support diocesan vocations.

The afternoon opened with a vibrant Pentecost procession. Seminarian Jake Belanger led the procession just weeks ahead of his June 6 ordination to the transitional diaconate.

The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Color Guard provided a grand welcome. Notable guests included Ray Gehlmann, visiting Color Corps commander (Diocese of Saginaw) and Ken Unterbrink, past state deputy.

The highly anticipated game featured the bishop, priests, and seminarians facing off against talented Catholic school students from across the diocese. Both teams brought immense energy, resulting in a thrilling 16-16 tie.

The real victory, however, was the community's incredible generosity in supporting the future priests and deacons of the diocese.

Council 3798 in Paw Paw welcomes Special Olympians!

Council 3798 in Paw Paw welcomed the Special Olympians from Area 17 (SW Michigan) to breakfast on Thursday, May 28, at the K. of C. hall in Paw Paw. Over 100 athletes and their chaperones stopped by on their way to Mt. Pleasant where they will compete with athletes from across the state of Michigan. The athletes were treated to a pancake, egg and sausage breakfast. All were satisfied and with full stomachs traveled happily on their way to the competition.

Almost there!!

We are so close to reaching our goal; now is the time to sprint for the finish line.

Michigan continues to move forward! So far, 2,179 men have accepted our invitation to SOAR with us. We're at 88.3% of our fraternal year goal of 2467. That is a tremendous accomplishment and a reflection of the dedication and commitment across Michigan.

288 to go!

We are almost there — let’s reach out to a friend, a family member, a fellow parishioner, or a neighbor and invite them to join us!

Thank you again for your dedication and commitment to the growth of our councils and the future of our Order. Now is the time to invite. Let’s finish strong.

Dad Talk - Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity (Cycle A)

This week's readings are short, but they contain beautiful and eternal truths about the Most Holy Trinity. They also give us a choice. We'll discuss all that -- and conduct a refresher on what it means to have a "Solemnity" -- in this week's Dad Talk. Please share with a friend, and God bless! Dad

K of C Day at the Ballpark - Aug. 29 - Tigers vs Dodgers

I love baseball! There is excitement in the air when you walk into a baseball stadium. The roar of the crowd, the smell of the hot dogs being cooked, and lines forming for beverages of all kind. Sometimes it feels like you're in another world. With our annual Knights of Columbus night at Comerica Park, you see brotherhood among us. I keep having to increase the amount of tickets each year, and trust me, that is a good problem to have.

On Saturday Aug. 29, our fraternalism continues. Our hometown team, the Detroit Tigers, will be facing the World Series champs, the Los Angeles Dodgers. If you’ve never attended, this is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon! If you’ve been in the past, be sure to bring some new faces. Let's show our Knights of Columbus Brotherhood around the stadium.

Hope to see you there. May God bless you all.
