"Happy Father’s Day, Dads!
In a day when husbands and fathers are mocked in every sit-com as the dunce of the family, denigrated by the haters of “the patriarchy” and pushed aside for others’ “rights”, we recognize your value and leadership and thank you.
We honor you as you lead your families, check on the physical and spiritual well being of all under your roof, and make sure that everyone is in church faithfully. As you intercede in your prayer closet, as you shepherd your own little flock, may God grant you wisdom, strength, courage, and great anointing.
We salute you as you work to make sure your family is provided for, working long hours and then coming home to help with a car repair, walk a dog, change a diaper, or fix a broken faucet or just by making sure that even your adult children know that Dad is always there to help.
We bless you for being willing to do the hard things so that your family can have good memories, plenty of laughs and security.
So, Dads, Be encouraged to keep on following Christ and fulfilling the God-given role to lead our families and our churches so that we are all the stronger for it.
To all those who are grieving a father in your life that is no longer here on this earth, we see you. We ache with you. We pray that this day brings joy to your sadness as you remember the impact that he had on your life. Your Heavenly Father sees you and enfolds you in His loving arms. He will turn your mourning into dancing again.
To those whose father was or is absent, abusive, detached, who leave the word “Father” as a bitter taste in your mouth—on this day especially we see you. We hear you. We want to be the kind of church that facilitates your healing. Know that your Heavenly Father is not like that. May He give you the grace to forgive and honor the undeserving. Know that your Heavenly Father makes beauty of ashes and can turn your pain into miraculous and joyful ministry.
To the young men that one day will be fathers: Choose to live each day developing the character of Christ so that you will honor Him when that time comes for you. Choose wisely and find abundant life.
Fathers, we know many of you grieve over children that, despite your greatest efforts, have chosen not to follow the Christ that you love. Do not give up. Keep on keeping on. Be the man God made you to be and know that your labor is not in vain.
Men, on this Father’s Day, we would wish for you that your resolve would be established, solidified and firm to be the man of God that He is calling you to be and to finish well. May all who come behind you find you faithful to this, your Highest Calling: to be a DAD.
