Saint Cyril of Alexandria was instrumental in the Church’s doctrinal statement that there is one person but two natures in Christ. The practical implication of this teaching is that we believe that Jesus is truly God and truly human.

Solemnity of the Sacred Heart, in the month devoted to the Sacred Heart.

“Behold the Heart that has so loved men that it has spared nothing, even exhausting and consuming itself in testimony of its love; and in return, I receive from most only ingratitude, by their irreverence and sacrilege, and by the coldness and contempt they have for me in this Sacrament of Love. But what I feel most keenly is that it is hearts that are consecrated to me that treat me in this way.”

The word that was seen and heard and felt and used most frequently on the day Father Luke Daghir was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Erie was a simple one — joy. It was everywhere: in the hearts of those in attendance, including Bishop Persico; in the hearts of those who had been involved in his formation; clergy from every corner of the diocese; family and friends; and most especially, on the face of Father Daghir. The Diocese of EriE-News is pleased to offer a first-hand account of this beautiful gift from God.
