9/6/26 Dedication of the Quilts Thank you to the women who made these beautiful quilts and to the people who donated materials for the quilts.

The Holy Gospel for Sun., Sept. , the 15th Sunday after Pentecost is Luke 23: 55- 24: 1-10. Pastor Bowman talked about the role women played in carrying out the early church's mission as disciples, prophets, teachers, benefactors etc. Some of the women are:
In John, Mary Magdalene was the first and sent by Christ to bear witness to his resurrection,
in Acts, Lydia dealer in purple cloth, who was baptized and offers her home as a base for the church,
in Romans, Priscilla explains the the way of God and teaches the teachers,
in Romans, Phebe helped fund Paul's ministry and was trusted enough to deliver letters for him.
It is important that women held important leadership roles in the early church and labored side by side with the Apostles so are part of the church's foundation.

Sunday, Sept. 6th is the 15th Sunday after Pentecost.
This Sunday we will reflect on the faith of women who labor for Jesus Christ. Their diverse gifts of time and effort are inspiring. Pastor Rich Bowman will provide a sermon via video and Pastor Elaine Burkert will be present to offer Communion and to lead our dedication of the 64 quilts made by 9 volunteers who are members or friends of Zion.

Immediately following worship, we will pack the quilts which will then be driven to Yorktown, NY as part of a larger shipment to Baltimore, MD. From Maryland, the Lutheran World Relief (LWR) agency distributes thousands of quilts to individuals in need locally and around the world. It is a blessing to have dedicated volunteers who've given their time and labor for the past 15 years so that Zion is part of this vital LWR ministry.
