RE: Worship
Due to the COVID19 (aka-“corona”) virus threat, after much prayer and discussion with the membership, the elders have determined that it would be in the best interest of all of our members, and potential visitors, and in accordance with trying to comply with governmental regulations, 1 Pet. 2:13-15, to suspend ALL gatherings at the building for worship and Bible Classes. We are trying to determine the best way to present lessons and worship options via our website, www.MackRdCoC.org during this time. We encourage you to keep checking the website, and/or page, as there are also links to other bible studies. This suspension of gatherings at the building (including all midweek bible classes, classes and worship services on Sunday, Men’s breakfast, Work Day, etc.) will extend through Saturday, April 4th, which means that we will commence gathering on Sunday, April 5th at our regularly scheduled times, unless it is deemed necessary to extend the suspension.
This is a painful decision, as we believe it hinders the encouragement and edification that we normally receive when we gather together as one people, Heb. 10:25, kindred in spirit. Thus, we do not take this necessary step lightly, and we strongly encourage each one to worship, pray, and sing in your individual homes (as defined by directive of the Sacramento County Dept. of Health for all citizens of Sacramento
County, and by the President’s advisory not to gather in groups of 10 or more). Simply not gathering at the building doesn’t relieve Christians of their need to worship and remember the Lord’s table, where they are. Acts 20:7. So use those times in private and/or family Bible study, albeit we encourage you to invite healthy family members to join you.
Once we are able to gather, we strongly encourage heeding the advice issued by the Center for Disease Control (CDC):
If someone in your household has tested positive, keep the entire family home.
If you are “elderly”, stay home and away from other people
If you have a serious underlying health condition, stay home and away from other people
Avoid unnecessary travel, shopping trips, and social visits
Avoid eating in restaurant dining rooms, use drive-through, pickup, and/or take-out only
Do not visit nursing homes, retirement or long-term care facilities except for critical assistance
Practice good hygiene such as washing your hands, especially after touching frequently used items or surfaces. Avoid touching your face.
On a side note: The normal operating expenditures will continue during this time. You are encouraged to send your contribution by mail with a check or money order to “Church of Christ”, PO Box 231005, Sacramento, CA 95823. Do not use the physical address as mail isn’t delivered there. It will be returned to sender.
Also, for those of you who must remain home and need help getting supplies please call on any member, Elder or Deacon for assistance, Acts 6:1-6. All other non-essential visitations will be temporarily suspended. We encourage all the Christians to keep in contact with each other by phone, texting or email.
Your love, understanding, and prayers during this difficult time are greatly appreciated.
