The Mack Road Church of Christ at 5051 Mack Road (halfway between Center Parkway and Tangerine) in South Sacramento, will be having a "Bizarre Bazaar" this coming Saturday, 6/12, from 10 am to 2 pm. The reason it's "Bizarre" is because EVERYTHING is free. We invite you to come join us.

07/15/2020

Due to the decisions by the civil authorities and announced yesterday, Mon., 7/13, we will revert back to having our worship services in the parking lot in front of our building beginning at 10 am on Sunday, 7/19. Social distancing protocols will be in place. If you perchance still have your songbooks in your car from our previous parking lot worship services, please be prepared to sing. We will provide the elements for communion, along with the sermon outline provided by our Preacher/elder, Mike Mendez. Thank you for your understanding during these trying times!

It is bittersweet to announce that our brother in Christ, and one of our fine deacons, passed from this life today after a short battle with Melanoma that had metastasized into many parts of his body, including the brain, both lungs, his spine, and abdomen. We will truly miss his smile and his diligence at being the best Christian he could be, but are envious of his new mansion in the presence of God and Jesus Christ, his savior.

The church at 5051 Mack Road, Sacramento, will continue with our "Parking Lot Worship Service" this Sunday, 6/7, beginning at 10 am.

05/01/2020

UPDATE: Instead of having worship services in the building, we will have a worship service in the parking lot. We have acquired an FM Transmitter, so you can sit in your vehicle, (or bring lawn chair(s) and sit in front of your vehicle) in the parking lot, and listen to the service on your radio. Services will begin at 10 am sharp. Please arrive early and be parked when we start, so as not to disrupt the worship service.

04/11/2020

Due to the "Shelter at home" order being extended, our first worship services in the building has been moved to May 3rd. All bible classes (Wednesday and Sunday) as well as our worship services are online at "MackRdCofC.org". We invite everyone to joining us online until we can meet again.

Another great sermon was heard today. It is complete with songs, prayers, and communion. The church bulletin, sermon outline, and an audio visual presentation of the sermon can be found on our church website, www.mackrdcofc.org. You can also find bible study material and presentations as well. Please locate the website and enjoy the sermon and learn more from the bible. Thank you, Mike M., Bill R., and Ben C. for making this available to all of us.

SERMON: Practicing Faith And Love In The Real World, Part 2

SCRIPTURES: 1 Cor. 9:19-27

MONTHLY THEME: Practicing Sacrificial Love

The preaching of the cross is a spiritual message revealed by the Spirit of God and not the wisdom of men! What makes the church different is its stand for Jesus. Until one gives up for the other, they haven’t really understood the faith.

Jesus adds kingdom people to His church. Kingdom people strive to live free in Jesus. They freely become slaves to others by giving up their liberties. The spiritual power to do this is only found in Christ. So be baptized in His name and gain the power to sacrifice.

We thank all of you for providing care to your loved ones, neighbors and community. I ask all of us to reach out to our members and encourage them to continue their walk with Jesus. Check on their needs and be careful when providing those services. It is difficult to practice social distancing by staying home but we respect the need to do so. God will see us through this.

What a great sermon I heard today. I was able to follow the lesson through a slide presentation and hear Mike as he spoke to it. I participated in the communion as well. I enjoyed the songs and was able to more freely sing without embarrassing myself (I cannot carry a tune in a bucket 😊). Thank you, Mike M., Bill R., Bill C., and Tiny for this arrangement.

RE: Worship

Due to the COVID19 (aka-“corona”) virus threat, after much prayer and discussion with the membership, the elders have determined that it would be in the best interest of all of our members, and potential visitors, and in accordance with trying to comply with governmental regulations, 1 Pet. 2:13-15, to suspend ALL gatherings at the building for worship and Bible Classes. We are trying to determine the best way to present lessons and worship options via our website, www.MackRdCoC.org during this time. We encourage you to keep checking the website, and/or page, as there are also links to other bible studies. This suspension of gatherings at the building (including all midweek bible classes, classes and worship services on Sunday, Men’s breakfast, Work Day, etc.) will extend through Saturday, April 4th, which means that we will commence gathering on Sunday, April 5th at our regularly scheduled times, unless it is deemed necessary to extend the suspension.

This is a painful decision, as we believe it hinders the encouragement and edification that we normally receive when we gather together as one people, Heb. 10:25, kindred in spirit. Thus, we do not take this necessary step lightly, and we strongly encourage each one to worship, pray, and sing in your individual homes (as defined by directive of the Sacramento County Dept. of Health for all citizens of Sacramento
County, and by the President’s advisory not to gather in groups of 10 or more). Simply not gathering at the building doesn’t relieve Christians of their need to worship and remember the Lord’s table, where they are. Acts 20:7. So use those times in private and/or family Bible study, albeit we encourage you to invite healthy family members to join you.

Once we are able to gather, we strongly encourage heeding the advice issued by the Center for Disease Control (CDC):

If someone in your household has tested positive, keep the entire family home.

If you are “elderly”, stay home and away from other people

If you have a serious underlying health condition, stay home and away from other people

Avoid unnecessary travel, shopping trips, and social visits

Avoid eating in restaurant dining rooms, use drive-through, pickup, and/or take-out only

Do not visit nursing homes, retirement or long-term care facilities except for critical assistance

Practice good hygiene such as washing your hands, especially after touching frequently used items or surfaces. Avoid touching your face.

On a side note: The normal operating expenditures will continue during this time. You are encouraged to send your contribution by mail with a check or money order to “Church of Christ”, PO Box 231005, Sacramento, CA 95823. Do not use the physical address as mail isn’t delivered there. It will be returned to sender.

Also, for those of you who must remain home and need help getting supplies please call on any member, Elder or Deacon for assistance, Acts 6:1-6. All other non-essential visitations will be temporarily suspended. We encourage all the Christians to keep in contact with each other by phone, texting or email.
Your love, understanding, and prayers during this difficult time are greatly appreciated.
