TITLE: Teaching from the Book of 2 Thessalonians-Part 1
SUBJECT: A Model Church Under Attack and Persecution
SCRIPTURE: 2 Thessalonians 1:1–5
When we are facing persecution, we as believers should respond with patience and faith in what God's word has to say. The believers in Thessalonica did just that. They believed God. When we stand on God's word regarding persecution and take God at His word, He will stand with us. When we stand on God's Word and are patient, God will be standing with us; He will strengthen us, causing us to overcome any persecution that comes our way. The believers in the Thessalonian church did just that. Thus they showed themselves to be a Model Church that all believers should follow.

To combat persecution and trials, a church needs a growing faith in Christ. Faith in Christ means that a person believes in the Lord Jesus Christ. They put their trust in Christ to take care of their past, present, and future life. They trust our Lord Jesus Christ to provide the necessities of life, protection, deliverance, and guidance needed.. A person who grows in faith is a person who learns to depend upon Christ more and more in every area of life. The church received the gospel, believed the gospel, and practiced the gospel by the working of the Holy Spirit in them. These things gave them strength and gave them steadfastness and overcoming power when facing trials, persecutions and tribulations.
