Thank you for coming to our page and checking us out. We hope this page will give you more insight into what we're all about and what our vision is attempting to do. We believe this vision is based upon the prompting of the Holy Spirit to reach those desiring to grow in an authentic relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ through the love and encouragement of believers within a unconditio
nal faith community. Our Purpose (Mark 16:15, Acts 5:42)
We believe “the Church should not be measured in its seating capacity, but rather in its sending capacity.” Therefore, it is the purpose and goal to create covenant members through discipleship and spiritual maturation to carry out the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. Below you'll find the main components to our vision here in the DFW Area:
1. The Word of God (II Timothy 3:16-17) - We believe the Scripture is the inspired, authoritative, inerrant, and sufficient word of God. We believe Scripture has unimaginable power to reveal truth and convict our hearts through the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, our primary objective is to ensure the Word is being spoken openly, honestly, lovingly, and authoritatively over the lives of our members.
2. Mission (Matthew 25:35-40, 28:19) - One of our goals is to be a living and breathing church that not only impacts our church body but those in our local community and beyond. We believe that our body as a whole should be active hands and feet of our Lord and Savior. We believe if our children grow up watching their father and mother actively giving of themselves for others through local outreach, then we’re nurturing future leaders who will live for Jesus boldly.
3. Faith Community / Fellowship (Acts 2:42-47, Romans 12:2, I John 1:3-7) - To have true fellowship or faith community, we will submit to the authority of Scripture as our baseline for how we conduct life, how we worship, and how we interact within our faith community. Therefore, as a faith community, we will lovingly help each other pursue a life of holiness through our thoughts, actions, and deeds. We will pray for the needs of those who are hurting and in need of God's love, mercy, forgiveness, and grace.
4. Life Groups (Hebrews 10:24-25, Acts 2:42-47) - In order for our faith community to thrive and grow spiritually as individuals and as a body, Life Group will be an integral parcel of our vision. Just as God saw that it was not good for Adam to be alone, we believe that our church members should not do life on their own either. Because of this, we will hold true to the importance we place on active participation in Life Group. Life group will offer members the opportunity to study Scripture in a safe and authentic manner with other brothers and sisters just as themselves.
5. Accountability (Romans 14:12, I Corinthians 12, Galatians 6:1-2, Hebrews 10:24, I Thessalonians 5:11) - Accountability is essential for any Christian faith community to function appropriately. Accountability is simply being responsible for one's action through the loving encouragement of another. This kind of support and accountability is what we stress within our Life Group ministry. Life groups are designed to be a contextual forum for believers to do life together through fellowship and spiritual growth.
6. Church Discipline (Hebrews 12:5-11, II Timothy 3:16-17, I Corinthians 5, Matthew 18:15-17) - As a church body, we will abide by the discipline of the church and submit ourselves to the leadership and guidance of our pastoral/ecclesiastical leaders. We, as the body of Christ, will also honor and protect the integrity of the faith community by practicing church discipline as outlined within Scripture. We believe speaking the truth of the Scripture thru the heart of Christ, a wandering brother or sister can be reconciled. To this end, God's love and Truth will trump all other conventional wisdom even in the midst of a culture where this may not be a common practice.
7. Leadership (I Timothy 3:8-13) - We believe that leadership (in any capacity) is a divine appointment that carries great responsibility. As a church, we believe that anyone who takes a position within the church should approach that position with great respect, thought, and prayer. Our role model of a servant-leader is Jesus Christ. Just as He showed humility in the washing of His disciples, all church leaders should embody the quality of humility and servanthood (an “I am second” attitude). We believe in the instructions Paul spoke of in I Timothy 3 to select, elect, and appoint those individuals to a position of church leadership. Our hope is that we would be able to praise our Lord and Savior in a community of people from various cultural, socioeconomic, denominational, and ethnic backgrounds. CrossWay is not about what we do to attract people, but rather how we worship our Lord and outreach to a world in need. We hope this will be evident through our worship services, Life Group gatherings, Outreach program, and other ministries. For more information, please feel free to email us at [email protected]. If you're interested in supporting or joining us in this endeavor, we would love to hear from you. God bless!
