Sabinal Methodist Church

Sabinal Methodist Church Sunday Services 11 am They placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action. Henry T. Hill was the first circuit riding pastor.

John Wesley and the early Methodists were particularly concerned about inviting people to experience God’s grace and to grow in their knowledge and love of God through disciplined Christian living. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as "practical divinity" has continued to be a hallmark of Methodism today. The distinctive shape of our theological heritage can be seen not only in this emphasi

s on Christian living, but also in Wesley's distinctive understanding of God's saving grace. Although Wesley shared with many other Christians a belief in salvation by grace, he combined them in a powerful way to create distinctive emphases for living the full Christian life. Our Church

The Methodist Church began in Sabinal, Texas, in 1878 as a part of the Sabinal Circuit of the San Antonio District of the West Texas Conference. On June 26, 1907, the site on which the church currently stands was purchased
and the sanctuary building was built that same year. For over 100 years God has been at work through the Sabinal Methodist Church to bless the people of the community. May God continue to bless this church.

“Wesley proved that ecumenical behavior–bridge-building, collaborative, missional partnerships rooted in generous hospitality, humble learning, and ongoing conversation–can do much to welcome and advance the Kingdom of God.”

Beloved,

After much prayer and discernment, I am honored and humbled to announce that I will be appointed as the pastor at Somerset Methodist Church effective 1 April, 2026. My last Sunday in the pulpit will be Palm Sunday, 29 March, 2026.

Our time at Sabinal Methodist Church has been a seven-year whirlwind. It was a time of COVID, disaffiliation, movement to the GMC, and the church loving us though the deaths of two of my step-brothers and both parents. While it grieves us to move, we are excited at the new chapter God is calling us to. I am praying for a great successor to be appointed at Sabinal, while I work to end well and start well.

Please be in prayer for us during the next month! Love you all!

Today, on Ash Wednesday, we pause in humility and gratitude.

As we enter this sacred season of Lent, we also give thanks that the Global Methodist Church has officially surpassed 7,000 churches worldwide. 🎉

This moment reminds us that growth isn’t just measured in numbers — it’s found in repentance, renewal, and lives being transformed by Jesus Christ. As Wesleyans, we are called to holiness of heart and life, to return to the Lord, and to carry His love into every community.

From ashes to hope.
From repentance to revival.
From local churches to a global mission.

👇 Tell us your church name + location in the comments so we can journey together this Lenten season.

“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
And yet — God is still moving. 🌍🙏
