Something to ponder: Humility helps us to be receptive to God's wisdom. Only the humble of heart - those who thirst for God and acknowledge his word as true - can truly understand the wisdom which comes from above. God is ever ready to speak his word to us and to give us true wisdom and understanding. Do you hunger for the wisdom which comes from above?

Something to ponder: Love lifts the burdens of others. What was the point of Jesus' lesson? The essence of God's commandments is love - love of the supreme good - God himself and love of our neighbor who is made in the image and likeness of God. Do you help your neighbors carry their burdens? God gives each of us sufficient grace for each day to love as he loves and to lift the burdens of others that they, too, may experience the grace and love of Jesus Christ.

Something to ponder: What makes the heart clean and holy?
Which is more important to God - clean hands or a clean mind and heart? And if the heart is full of love and compassion, then there is no room for envy, greed, bitterness, and the like. Do you allow God's love to transform your heart, mind, and actions toward others?

Something to ponder: Listen to God's word of wisdom and you will find true life and everlasting joy. God will transform us if we listen to His Holy and abiding Word and allow His Holy Spirit to work in our lives. Ask the Lord to renew your mind and to increase your thirst for his wisdom. God wants us to delight in him and to know the freedom of his truth and love. Do you thirst for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14)?

A Reflection for Friday - October 9, 2026

Something to ponder: Is Jesus the Lord of your mind, heart, and home?
If we want to live in true freedom, then our "house" (the inner core of our true being) must be occupied by Jesus where he is enthroned as Lord and Savior. And, "Because you have made the Lord your refuge, the Most High your habitation, no evil shall befall you, no scourge come near your tent. For he will give his angels charge of you to guard you in all your ways"(Psalm 91:9-11). So, again, do you know the peace and security of a life submitted to God and His Holy and abiding Word?

Something to ponder: God gives more than we can ask or expect. The Lord is ever ready to give us not only what we need, but more than we can expect. He gives freely of his Holy Spirit that we may share in his abundant life and joy. Do you approach your heavenly Father with confident trust in his mercy and kindness?

A Reflection for Wednesday - October 7, 2026

Something to ponder: Do you treat others as they deserve, or do you treat them as the Lord Jesus would with grace and mercy? Jesus' prayer includes an injunction (charge) that we must ask God to forgive us in proportion as we forgive those who have wronged us (Matthew 6:14-15). God's grace frees us from every form of anger, resentment, envy, and hatred. Are you ready to forgive others as the Lord Jesus forgives you?

Something to ponder: When you sit, eat, sleep and when you entertain your friends and guests, remember that the Lord Jesus is also the guest of your home. The Lord wants us to bring him glory in the way we treat others and use the gifts he has graciously given to us. God, in turn, blesses us with his gracious presence and fills us with joy.
