The popularity of June as "pride month" can feel complex for Christians. How can we love God and our neighbors well while also holding firm to biblical truth about gender and sexuality?

In this article from the archives, Counselor Gene Burrus offers 7 ways for Christians to pray and live well during Pride month:
πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ 1. Use Pride flags and symbols as prompts to pray.
❀️ 2. Ask God to give you a missionary heart for LGBTQ+ people.
🀝 3. Seek to embody God’s kind and patient disposition to sinners (like you).
πŸ‘§ 4. Pray for children to receive godly, healthy teaching about sexuality and gender.
πŸ™ 5. Petition God about our ruling authorities, so that we might continue a life of peace.
πŸ§Žβ€βž‘οΈ 6. Intercede for Christians with same-sex attraction or gender incongruence.
πŸ‘‹ 7. Prayerfully consider how you might show hospitality to LGBTQ+ people in your life.

Due to the generous donations given to our Nannie Newsome Christian Character Scholarship fund. GRBA was able to award 10 High School Seniors each with a $500 scholarship for college. This year scholarships went to seniors at RS Central, Reach, Thomas Jefferson, Lake Lure Classical Academy, Masters Academy as well as a few homeschools. Each of these students were chosen because of their hard work and dedication to school but also because they demonstrated Christian character in their daily lives among their family and peers. We would like to say congratulations to all the high school seniors who received scholarships this year. Your hard work, faith and dedication to the Lord does not go unnoticed. We would also like to thank all of our churches within the GRBA as well as members of the local communities. Without your generosity to the Nannie Newsome Fund these scholarships would not have been possible.

This year the Green River Baptist Association will be serving as a collection site for the WNC Mountain State Fair Ministry. Every year GRBA volunteers from multiple churches work the fair handing out a variety of supplies while witnessing to attendees. They serve in many different aspects of the fair by providing lunch for fair workers, working the golf cart providing transportation for visitors, or working the 3:16 Booth sharing the Gospel of Jesus with those that they come in contact with. Each year thousands of people are encountered at the WNC fair by these church teams, and you can be a part of the WNC State Fair ministry as well when you help provide the needed supplies. If you, your church or someone you know is interested in donating, please see the needs list below for acceptable items. Bring any donations by the Green River Baptist Association Office Monday - Thursday 9 AM-4 PM. Collection deadline is July 30, 2026.
