More Than Manna

Any and all are welcome to join in a weekly time of singing, a short devotional, sharing our joys and concerns followed by a free hot meal.

Each week one of pastors offers a sermon, and a meal is provided.

Eeek😳 We forgot to take pictures tonight. But the Kitchen Crew prepared and served Mexican casserole, nachos, fruit, and cake for 54 guests. We had new volunteers from local high schools who brought a fresh energy. Pastor Tony gave the sermon and we received communion. A wonderful night!

The Men’s Breakfast Cooks prepared and served pancakes, bacon, sausage, bananas, and cookies for 53 guests tonight. Thank you, Men’s Breakfast Cooks!

Junior Auxiliary of Russellville donated a thousand dollars to More Than Manna for the second consecutive year. Thank you so much, JA, for your immense generosity and all the wonderful good you do for our community!

The Kitchen Crew served lasagna, buttered peas, bread, and strawberry cake to 45 guests on Sunday. Thank you Pasta Grill for the delicious lasagna and strawberry cake!

Meet Bob Weber! Bob is a member of our “Kitchen Crew,” the volunteers and staff who are at More Than Manna every Sunday to assist volunteer groups or to prep and serve when no group is scheduled. Bob started helping wash dishes last year and continued helping because of the community he felt. He said, “washing dishes has always been something that I enjoy doing because it reminds me of helping my mom do dishes over a period of about half my life. That was our time to talk. I kinda do it now as a way of honoring my memories of her.” Bob has a huge heart for service and also volunteers with Soul Food Cafe Mission in Conway and with his home church in Atkins. Thank you, Bob!!

Meet Dixie Tippy! She is a member of our “Kitchen Crew,” the volunteers and staff who are at More Than Manna every Sunday to assist volunteer groups or to prep and serve when no group is scheduled. She said, “More Than Manna has been an important mission to me for several years. I try to make each Sunday special for our friends and make them feel welcome. They give us smiles and hugs in return. We are all children of a loving God. We are all precious in his sight, and it’s our chance to remind them that they too are precious, no matter their circumstances.” We are all blessed by her gentle and empathetic nature. Thank you, Sweet Dixie!!

The Cornerstone class prepared and served beef stroganoff, green beans, fruit, rolls, and cake for 45 guests tonight. Thank you, Cornerstone class! Pastor Cindy gave a short sermon from Romans.

The Kitchen Crew served pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, and ice cream cake for 38 guests yesterday. Dan and Kim Meatheany prepared the pulled pork and provided the potato salad. Fat Daddy’s Barbecue donated the baked beans. Russellville Kroger donated the ice cream cake. Thank you all for your kindness and generosity! Pastor Tony gave a short sermon and administered the Lord’s Supper.

Meet Carol Williams! Carol is a member of our “Kitchen Crew,” the volunteers and staff who are at More Than Manna every Sunday to assist volunteer groups or to prep and serve when no group is scheduled. She has been volunteering her time and energy to the community for over 30 years and currently serves as Special Events Coordinator for United Women of Faith. Carol is instrumental in making our guests feel like family and always has the tables beautifully decorated. She is a ray of sunshine and her smile and laughter consistently brighten the day of volunteers and guests alike. We are all blessed by the compassion and joy she brings. Thank you, Carol!!
