Where is God leading Mt. Olive next?

This Sunday, immediately following worship, our church family will gather for a Carry-In Lunch & Vision Casting.

We’ll eat together, look at the ministry opportunities God has placed before us, talk about the proposed building addition, and pray about how we can faithfully follow His direction.

This isn't simply about making a bigger building. It's about making room for the ministry God is calling us to do.

Bring a soup, chili, side dish, or dessert and join the conversation.

Today we were reminded of something important:

We can’t become so focused on the work that we forget the people.

In Nehemiah 5, the wall was going up—but God’s people were hurting. Nehemiah understood that finishing the work wasn’t enough. They needed to finish it God’s way.

The same is true for us.

God is doing some exciting things at Mt. Olive. We’re growing. We’re talking about the future. We’re praying about facilities and new opportunities for ministry.

But the mission has never been about a building.

It’s about people.

People who need Jesus.
People who need a church family.
People who need encouragement and discipleship.
People in our community who may not even know yet that there’s a place for them here.

As we move forward, may we always remember:

People matter more than the project.

Seeking God.
Doing Life Together.
Drawing Others to Jesus.

Sometimes the greatest threat to the mission isn’t outside the walls. It’s inside them.

In Nehemiah 4, the opposition came from the outside.
But in Nehemiah 5, God’s people faced a different danger—they were hurting one another.

Nehemiah understood something we still need to remember:
You can finish the project and still miss the mission.

Tomorrow we begin FINISH THE WORK, as we look at where God is leading Mt. Olive and what it means to faithfully move forward together.

Where is God leading Mt. Olive next?

God has already been at work—in our children, our families, our discipleship ministries, and in the opportunities He is placing before us.

On Sunday, September 20, immediately following worship, we’ll have a Church Carry-In Lunch & Vision Casting.

We’ll eat together, talk about the proposed building addition, look at the ministry needs and opportunities before us, and most importantly, pray and talk about how we can faithfully follow where God is leading.

This isn't simply about making a bigger building. It's about making room for the ministry God is calling us to do.

The gospel keeps moving when God’s people are willing to go.

Today in Acts 13–14, we followed Paul and Barnabas as they took the gospel from one town to the next.

They went where God sent them.
They shared Jesus with the people God put in front of them.
And when the mission got hard, they didn’t quit.

The question for us is simple:

Where is your “next town”?

It might be your workplace.
Your neighborhood.
Your school.
Your family.
Or one person God has already placed in your path.

We don’t have to go around the world to live on mission. We just have to be willing to take the gospel to the next person God puts in front of us.
