Please join us in keeping Lou Wimmer and her family covered in prayers as they mourn the passing of her beloved mother.

We are praying for comfort, strength, and peace in the days ahead. May God surround this family with His love and remind them that He is near to the brokenhearted.

Beverly “Joy” McGowan of Jabez, KY passed peacefully from this life and into the arms of Jesus on August 29, 2026 at her home with her family by her side. She was 74 years of age. Joy was born April 3, 1952 in Scott County, KY to Arthur Edward and Vonnie Wi******er Smith. Joy married the love of her life, Delbert McGowan, in Somerset, KY on May 22, 1971. To this union God blessed them with three daughters; Loretta Wimmer (Rick), Rita Cox (Eric), and Sharon Baird (Roger). She was affectionately known as Mamaw and Memaw by her beloved grandchildren; Boston (Billie), Madison (Katie), Carter, Haven (Preston), Alexis,
Autumn, Dakota, Felicity, and Jethro, as well as 6 great-grandchildren.

Joy retired from the Pulaski County School System (Nancy Elementary) where she worked in the cafeteria and as a preschool aide. She loved to watch the children grow and learn. She influenced many students during her time and created life-long friendships with her co-workers. Joy enjoyed farming, raising animals, gardening, sewing, cooking, spending time with her family and friends, and attending church. She was a member of Christian Home Separate Baptist Church where she faithfully attended for over fifty years. Joy made friends easily and left her testimony with all that would listen. Joy helped many throughout her years on earth and always thought of others before herself.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, her sister Rhonda Carter (Richard), her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and far too many family and close friends to list them all. Joy will be missed here on Earth, but is forever healed in eternity with Jesus.

Joy always said she wanted to enjoy her flowers while she was living and she did. She had beautiful flowers in and around her home. She had said many times that when she passed away “only a rose will do”. Join us in honoring a life well lived as we celebrate all she meant to us here and what she taught us that remains in our hearts today.

We will receive friends and family at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home on Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. Services will follow on Saturday, September 5th at 12:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Matthew Lawhorn, Bro. Mark Polston, and Bro. Rick Wimmer officiating. Burial will follow at Military Spring Cemetery in Jabez, KY.

You are welcome to view Joy’s obituary and offer condolences to the family at our website: www.LakeCumberlandFuneralService.com

Don’t bother to send the flowers as mom has left us plenty at home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Military Spring Cemetery in Jabez, KY at 13153 HWY 196, Nancy, KY 42544.

“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
2 Corinthians 4:18

Bobby Ray Kerr, age 83, of Russell County, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.

Bobby was born October 5, 1942, in Russell County, Kentucky, the son of the late Olie and Martha Ann Bolin Kerr.

Bobby shared 39 years of marriage with his wife, Sharon Jenkins Kerr, before her passing on May 24, 2014. Together, they built a large and loving family that remained an important part of his life and legacy.

Bobby is survived by his six children: Townia (the late Dallon) Mathews of Russell Springs, KY, Dwight (Sandy) Kerr of Jamestown, KY, Delilah (the late Carl) Mings of Columbia, KY, Tony (Jackie) Kerr of Jamestown, KY, Robert Allen (the late Amy) Kerr of Russell Springs, KY and Tish (Jeremie) West of Russell Springs, KY.

He is also survived by two brothers, Otis Kerr and Jeff Kerr; one sister, Ruth Hoover; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, along with many other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Sharon, Bobby was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Kerr, Carlie Kerr, and Kenneth Kerr; three sisters, Maxine Burton, Doris Cook, and Darlene Kerr; and his sons-in-law, Dallon Mathews and Carl Mings, and daughter-in-law, Amy Kerr.

Bobby took great pride in his work as a licensed plumber, a profession he practiced with skill and dedication. His work was more than a livelihood; it was something he took genuine pride in and a reflection of his craftsmanship.

Above all, in the final days of his earthly life, Bobby openly professed his faith in the Lord. His family is deeply grateful for this profession of faith and finds peace and comfort in the assurance that, as his earthly journey came to a close, he placed his trust in the Lord.

Bobby leaves behind generations of family, a lifetime of memories, and a legacy that will continue through those who knew and loved him.

At his request, private services will be held. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
