An update to the washouts at the Cemetery- We know about the frustration of the community, and no one feels it more than those of us with our family and friends in Ruskin Memorial Park. We have a group of volunteers, engineers, contractors, state and county officials, all attempting to help resolve this issue. This isn't the first type of washout that has happened to our Park. We are trying to make sure it is the last. We are not able to simply "fill in the hole" without following engineers requirements and finding contractors that have the equipment and soil type needed. All of this is on going while our volunteers continue our normal daily work of our Park. Sadly, this project is going to drain our very limited resources, we have some people donating their services to help with costs. Insurance does not cover this type of damage. This is a trying time for all of us dealing with the hurricanes from last year. We will make a better effort to keep the community informed. We are currently waiting on estimates for delivery and installation of the very unique soil required by our engineers. We must follow State and Environmental guidelines governing cemeteries and environment. We are more than happy to accept any and all help for our families of Ruskin Memorial Park. - Donations can be mailed to PO Box 392 Ruskin FL 33575 or Call 813-434-34361 to make a donation via credit card - Clint Paskert President

Please dont dump your junk in our dumpster. We are a nonprofit organization. This dumpster is for cemetery use only. We could use a volunteer to remove and dispose the prohibited items. Thank you.

Please use the dumpster instead of the trees for your cemetery trash.

Driver attempted to service the container and was unable to because there are prohibited items within the container. See photo below. Please be advised that only trash is prohibited in the container. The door and items on top need to be removed and disposed of elsewhere before we can service the container.

DO NOT TRESPASS! The Cemetery is closed due to damage sustained by Hurricane Milton. There are trees and limbs down, and the ground is not stable. The risk of sink holes and depressions is high. We are aware of at least one depression. Do not enter the property. The Board of directors is working with inspectors, insuranace and FEMA to insure that the grounds are safe. before you enter. We know many people are concerned about their loved ones gravesites, but calling to tell us there is debris, we know, is putting yourself at risk. We also know that the mosquitoes are bad. Please do not enter. Our Board members are also working on their own personal properties. This will take time. We don’t have an estimate. More trees will be going down as they are unsafe, their roots are lifting. Share this post in your neighborhood groups and with friends.

The cemetery is open. Please bring trash bags when you visit and help pick up debris and flowers and trinkets that have blown away. Then place them in our dumpster on the north side of Manatee Ave. if the dumpster is full, place them neatly beside the dumpster. Fallen branches and tree limbs can be brought to the side of the streets for our maintenance to pick up. If we could get some volunteers to breakdown the Little Angels sign that blew over. This can also go to the dumpster. Thank you volunteers for taking trash to the dumpster instead of leaving it in the trees. This will make a huge positive impact on our memorial park

The Board Members of Ruskin Memorial Park are asking you to consider removing personal items from gravesites, in advance of Hurricane Helene. These items can become projectiles causing damage to the cemetery, and surrounding neighborhoods. They also become an environmental mess. Our dumpster is open and located on Manatee Ave. It is a small dumpster and only large enough for your cemetery use. We will be closing it on Thursday.
The cemetery will be closed Thursday and after the storm until we can determine that it is safe to reenter.

UPDATE:
An unauthorized padlock was placed on one of the gazebo doors, and furniture moved in front of other doors. This has resulted in delays in our cleanup. In addition, this has resulted in additional vandalism as someone has cut a screen door to bypass the lock.

See something, Say something. The board of directors is aware that we have squatters in the gazebo at the cemetery. The sheriff’s office has been called and they have been patrolling the area the past several nights in order to catch them and trespass them. It is a white male and female, riding bikes. The gazebo is closed for public use until future notice when we are able to clean and sanitize it. They have left it in very bad shape. If anyone can recommend a company to clean biowaste please respond.
In other news, we will be installing a dumpster next week for cemetery use only, so you should see the trash bags removed.
