Important information from the Twin Falls Temple:

As some of you may be aware, this past week, we had some problems with the elevator in the temple. We have had people from Salt Lake coming up to try and get it running correctly four times this past week. It appears that there are malfunctioning unique parts that will need to be ordered From the manufacturer.

The elevator in the temple will be out of order for a number of weeks. This has a significant impact on hundreds of patrons and ordinance workers. Each shift will have a few brothers available to help patrons up and down the stairs for those that need assistance.

However, the Temple Department has asked us to be cautious with issues of liability. If a person can get themselves up and down the stairs of their own accord, while hanging onto the handrail and/or with someone at their side hanging onto the other arm, that will be fine. But we will not be able to carry anyone up and down the stairs nor take people in a wheelchair up and down the stairs. The liability issues to those that are helping and to those needing help are too great.

Therefore, I would ask you to reach out to your bishops, (preferably tonight) so that they can let Ward members know that there is no elevator available at the temple for the time being. Individuals who cannot move up and down the stairs by themselves with only minimal assistance should use wisdom and judgment before coming to the temple. We will not be able to carry people up and down the stairs.

Thank you for your cooperation on this item. I will get word to you as soon as we know when the elevator will be fixed and functional. Thank you for your understanding. I am so sorry for any inconvenience to any of you and your members. We look forward to seeing you at the temple.
