Our vision is to be a community sharing Christ’s love through open-minded and thoughtful conversation, artistic expression, and spiritual engagement with the world. To that end, guided by biblical foundations, we will serve with energy, intelligence, imagination, and love. We value a personal culture, discipleship, worship, music, children and youth and outreach and mission.
• A Personal Culture
We seek to have authentic relationships with God and others and treasure personal interaction.
• Discipleship
We seek to be a center of Christian Education that fosters spiritual growth and creates deeply committed Christian disciples who understand and appreciate God’s love.
• Worship
Our worship, including thought provoking, biblical teaching and preaching; prayer; engaging and diverse music; congregational participation; and an opportunity to offer our time and talents in gratitude to God, demonstrates our love of God and God's love for us.
• Music
Through our music ministry we celebrate God's love with joy, passion, excellence, and creativity. We value music as an integral part of our worship.
• Children and Youth
We honor and celebrate God’s precious gift of all people and seek to extend grace and love to one another. We welcome the responsibility to nurture and teach children and youth as part of our covenant community.
• Outreach and Mission
We demonstrate God’s love by actively seeking to bless others both near and far through mission, service, and evangelism. John "Walter" Canter, pastor
Walter began his call at Blue Ridge in December 2016 after serving a small church on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee for four years. He has worked with new church developments in Oregon and Kentucky while earning his Master of Divinity at Louisville Seminary. Walter's faith grows out of his strong belief in a triune God bound in loving relationship. He has a engaging personality and is a wonderful listener. He enjoys challenges and is looking forward to helping BRPC grow in its faith. Walter and his wife, Allison, were both raised in the Blue Ridge area. Walter studied Technical and Scientific Communication at James Madison University and Allison is a graduate of the University of Virginia and earned her law degree at the University of Kentucky. They have a wonderful daughter, and they love hiking, reading, and watching whatever show is burning a hole in their Netflix queue. He also writes words and studies things with Pittsburgh Seminary's Creative Writing and Public Theology Doctor of Ministry cohort.
