Let Me fill you with my Love, Joy and Peace. There are Glory-gifts, flowing from my living Presence. Though you are an earthen vessel, I designed you to be filled with heavenly contents. Your weakness is not a deterrent to being filled with My Spirit; on the contrary, it provides an opportunity for My Powert to shine forth more brightly.

As you go through this day, trust Me to provide the strength you need moment by moment. Don't waste energy wondering whether you are adequate for today's journey. My Spirit withing you is more than sufficient to handle whatever this day may bring. That is the basis for your confidence!

In quietness (spending time alone with Me) and confident trust (relying on My sufficiency) is your strength.

Flag Day is a celebration of the American flag that occurs each year on the anniversary of the flagโ€™s official adoption, June 14.

Part of an article by Ex Corde, "๐‚๐€๐“๐‡๐Ž๐‹๐ˆ๐‚๐’: ๐–๐€๐•๐„ ๐“๐‡๐„ ๐’๐“๐€๐‘๐’ ๐€๐๐ƒ ๐’๐“๐‘๐ˆ๐๐„๐’ ๐“๐‡๐ˆ๐’ ๐…๐‹๐€๐† ๐ƒ๐€๐˜" written by Tom Hoopes, tells us "displaying flags in Catholic churches became popular in America when churches wanted to honor those who were serving during World War II. โ€œAt that time, many bishops and pastors provided a book of remembrance near the American flag, requesting prayers for loved ones,โ€ said the bishops.

That gets at the real reason we love and honor the flag.

We know that America is imperfect, and always has been. We love the flag because it represents not the imperfect lived reality of the nation but the high ideals of a country built on natural law โ€” and the people who lived and died to perfect it the way it is lived.

And despite shortcomings, we have another reason to celebrate in America. โ€œOne must pay tribute to those nations whose systems permit the largest possible number of the citizens to take part in public life in a climate of genuine freedom,โ€ says the Catechism. Isnโ€™t that a description of America?

Favorite church hymns express the right kind of patriotism, โ€œFaith of Our Fathersโ€ was written to celebrate the British martyrs who died at the hand of their own government, but it is as stirringly patriotic as St. Thomas More, who was โ€œ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐Š๐ข๐ง๐ โ€™๐ฌ ๐ ๐จ๐จ๐ ๐ฌ๐ž๐ซ๐ฏ๐š๐ง๐ญ, ๐›๐ฎ๐ญ ๐†๐จ๐โ€™๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ.โ€

โ€œGod of Our Fathersโ€ is an American hymn with an oblique reference to the flag (โ€œthe starry bandโ€) that the U.S. bishops have used during the fortnight for Freedom.

Last, the hymn โ€œImmaculate Maryโ€ prays โ€œBless, dearest Lady, the land of our birth.โ€

Think of that prayer when you see an American flag. Both mean the same thing."

Losing a loved one is one of the most profound and challenging experiences we can endure in life. The grief can feel overwhelming, and the pain can seem unending. In these moments, prayer becomes a source of solace, comfort, and strength. Turning to God with prayers for the recently deceased not only provides peace for their soul but also helps the living find hope and healing during the mourning process. Through prayer, we can intercede for their eternal rest, ask for Godโ€™s mercy upon them, and trust in His promise of everlasting life.

In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on at 4 p.m. EST on Thursday, June 11.

To prepare for this occasion, the bishops will hear reflections on the Sacred Heart from several of their brother bishops before the special Mass of consecration, which will be livestreamed on the USCCBโ€™s YouTube channel. The bishopsโ€™ livestream event is intended to be a catalyst to encourage parishes and individuals to participate in the America 250 commemoration by contributing to 250 Hours of Adoration and/or 250 Works of Mercy.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) United States Conference of Catholic Bishops will livestream the 2026 Spring Plenary Assembly in Orlando, Florida, June 10-12, which will include the consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The assembly will be livestreamed on the USCCB website.

https://www.usccb.org/consecration-united-states-sacred...

The public portion of the assembly will begin with an address by Archbishop Paul S. Coakley of Oklahoma City, who will deliver his first remarks as president of the Conference. Archbishop Gabriele Giordano Caccia, the Papal Nuncio to the United States, is also expected to deliver an address to the body of bishops.

Rev. Michael Clark in his article entitled, โ€œOf Monthโ€™s Minds and moreโ€”Traditions that help in a time of mourningโ€ writes,

Itโ€™s the little things you never expect. Very few funerals are marked by weeping and wailing these days. At most, a moist eye, or a faltering voice over a dearly cherished phrase or memory. We are not very good at death, are we?

Actually, as Catholics we are. There are numerous little traditions that are of great assistance to us in the grieving process, but you need to know what they are in advance. Since Jesus Guild is charged with promoting and fostering culture, we thought we would share with you a few of our favorites:

The Monthโ€™s Mind Mass
The Roman Missal traditionally encouraged the celebration of Requiem Masses to mark 3 days, 30 days or 1 year after someoneโ€™s death or burial. In the English speaking world, the 30 day Mass became known as the Monthโ€™s Mind, and the Anniversary Mass, the Yearโ€™s Mind.

At the time of a funeral all normality goes out the window. Thereโ€™s bureaucracy to deal with, and family to deal with. It is always a strange time, and not one conducive to prayer or recollection.

The Monthโ€™s Mind is a time to regroup, to gather friends and loved ones again, once the sting of death has receded, and healing has begun. Itโ€™s a time to pray, and to ask Godโ€™s mercy on the soul of a loved one - and perhaps even time for a bit of laughter. A meal in a favorite spot afterwards is always appropriate, where a desire to reminisce can be accommodated.

If we revolve about what happens on the outside, then the latter determines our mood and attitudes. But if we make what is external revolve around us, we can determine the amount of their influence. Either what is outside makes our moods, or our moods determine our outlook on what is outside us.
