Holy Family/St. Joseph Catholic Church - Roy, NM

08/27/2026

Blessings to All Parishioners,

I was unfortunately not able to find a priest to substitute for me for this weekend. If you are able to make mass elsewhere, please do so, because nothing can replace the value of attending mass on Sunday if possible. However, I have arranged for communion services to be offered by Pedro Laumbach in both Mosquero and Roy at the usual mass times.

Have a blessed weekend and continue to pray for more vocations to the priesthood, which is a need among our communities!

Hello all!

Sorry for the late notice, but as I announced this past weekend, we will be having Stations of the Cross at 4pm this afternoon and have a short prayer service afterwards focused on the sacrament of Penance (or confession). After the prayer service I will be hearing individual confessions until everyone finishes and stay till 6pm for anyone who cannot make it earlier than that.

Peace and blessing to you all as we approach Holy Week next week. May the power of Jesus' death and resurrection encourage you to know and encounter forgiveness of sins and newness of life!

We have decided to postpone our Heating Raffle to a later date because of the winter weather this weekend. So, no Heating Raffle on Sunday.

Please spread the word.

We will still have the switched mass times because those have been announced already. So, mass in Roy is at 12:00PM (and in Wagon Mound at 10:00AM).

Thank you all, and stay warm!

Today is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (a holy day of obligation). I forgot to remind you and post mass times!! I apologize.

If you are able, please join me for mass this evening, August 15th, at 7:00pm in Roy.

BECAUSE THIS IS LAST MINUTE, as your pastor I can offer a DISPENSATION. I am able to state that, if attending mass this evening would be difficult to make happen because of previous plans or family needs (or you see this post too late), you are NOT CULPABLE for missing mass today. If you cannot make mass, please instead pray a rosary with your family in honor of the feast or read Revelations 12 together along with a decade of the rosary.

Blessings to you all and may Mary continue to keep each of you in her love and prayers.

Blessed Easter Monday to all.

Many of you may have heard, but our Holy Father Pope Francis passed away this morning. We mourn the loss of this servant of God in thanksgiving for his service to the Church and his love for all Catholics and all peoples worldwide.

I will be praying a rosary this evening at 7:30 in the Roy church for anyone who would like to join. We will pray for the repose of his soul and for the power of the Holy Spirit to be active in our Catholic Church during this time of loss and as we look forward to the future and the election of a new pope.

-Fr. Agustín

Pope Francis died on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican's Casa Santa Marta.

The snow is being cleared right now! We will start mass at 10:15 to give people who are able to attend a bit more time to get here.

Dear Parishioners,

I'm hoping you are all staying safe and warm with all this snow!

Because the snow is making it very difficult to travel, I would like to announce the following:

If you are unable to travel or it would be a safety risk for you to travel, you are not obligated to go to mass this Sunday. Please consider how else you and your family can keep the Lords Day holy, perhaps by some prayer time together as a family.

However, if you are able to get around and do not think it would be unsafe for you to travel, I will be having mass at the usual time (in both Roy and Mosquero). In Roy I have dug a path to the main doors that begins near the old entrance to the church (see photo). The main difficulty will be parking, because the usual lot is unusable. Any parking would probably need to be along the side road (7th street) just north of the football field (and not on highway 120).

I hope you all are well during this hectic time. God Bless!
