🔥 AOIMF.ATX -- National Day of Fasting — Hebrews 12
Theme: “Lay Aside Every Weight and Run to the Finish”
Key Text: Hebrews 12:1–2
“Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”
Hebrews 12 calls us to spiritual discipline, endurance, holiness, and unwavering focus on Jesus. As we fast today, we are not merely denying food; we are deliberately laying aside weights that have hindered our walk with God.
1. Lay Aside Every Weight — Hebrews 12:1
Some things may not be sinful in themselves, but they can become weights—distractions, unhealthy relationships, bitterness, fear, compromise, spiritual laziness, unforgiveness, or misplaced priorities.
Prayer:
“Father, expose and remove every weight that is slowing down my spiritual race. Every burden I have carried that You never assigned to me, I lay it down today, in Jesus’ name.”
Supporting Scriptures:
Psalm 139:23–24
2 Corinthians 10:5
1 Peter 5:7
2. Look Unto Jesus — Hebrews 12:2
Our victory is not found by staring at the problem; it comes from fixing our eyes on Christ.
Jesus endured the cross because He saw the joy beyond the suffering.
Prayer:
“Lord, refocus my eyes. Where fear has become bigger than my faith, let Christ become bigger again!”
Scriptures:
Isaiah 26:3
Psalm 121:1–2
Colossians 3:1–2
3. Do Not Grow Weary — Hebrews 12:3
Some battles are designed to make you tired enough to quit. Hebrews says, “consider Him” so that you do not become weary.
Your exhaustion is not permission to abandon your assignment.
Scriptures:
Galatians 6:9
Isaiah 40:31
James 1:12
4. Receive God's Discipline — Hebrews 12:5–11
God's correction is not rejection. Sometimes God allows pressure to produce spiritual maturity, holiness, and righteousness.
Prayer:
“Father, give me grace to receive Your correction. Remove everything in me that resists Your will.”
Scriptures:
Proverbs 3:11–12
Psalm 94:12
John 15:2
5. Pursue Holiness and Peace — Hebrews 12:14
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”
Fasting should produce more than answered prayers. It should produce a changed heart.
Ask yourself:
What must change in me while I am asking God to change things around me?

Father, as we fast today, let every unnecessary weight fall off. Let every chain break, every spiritual obstruction be removed, and every unstable thing be shaken. Strengthen the weak hands and feeble knees. Restore our passion for prayer, holiness, the Word, and Your presence. Let this church become increasingly unshakable in faith, power, unity, and purpose. We receive fresh fire to run and finish our race. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen!@
