What a beautiful morning of experience love in Christian community at Messiah! It was so amazing to hear our Choir again accompanied by Mr. Doug!

We also welcomed Professor Leon Halpert, Marsha Halpert and Steve Baum, adult children of Holocaust survivors, for an important Coffee and Conversation about the Holocaust and what it means to rise in solidarity against antisemitism today.

Being in solidarity with our neighbors of all faiths is a huge part of how we live our call to follow Jesus Christ at Messiah!

Though the word trinity is not found in the scriptures, today’s second reading includes the apostolic greeting that begins the liturgy: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. In the gospel Jesus sends his disciples forth to baptize in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. More than a doctrine, the Trinity expresses the heart of our faith: we have experienced the God of creation made known in Jesus Christ and with us always through the Holy Spirit. We celebrate the mystery of the Holy Trinity in word and sacrament, as we profess the creed, and as we are sent into the world to bear witness to our faith. Pastor Dustin will preach and preside. Mass will begin with 15 minutes of music & meditation.

And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. - Matthew 28:20

Dear siblings in Christ,

Look at that awesome Over 55 Gang crew at the World’s Largest Kaleidoscope yesterday! And my goodness, community is what this Sunday, the Feast of the Holy Trinity, is all about! If even God exists in community as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, by golly, aren’t we created to exist in community as well!

We’ll also welcome Professor Leon Halpert, Marsha Halpert and Steve Baum, adult children of Holocaust survivors, for an important conversation on what it means to rise in interfaith solidarity against antisemitism in our own time.

See you this Sunday as we give thanks for the gift of community in Christ, at Messiah!

In hope,
Pastor Dustin

Life together in our Spirit filled congregation grounded in Jesus Christ.

We, members of Schenectady Clergy Against Hate, grieve with heavy hearts following the deadly attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego on May 18th. In a place devoted to prayer and community, three lives were taken in an act of violence that authorities are investigating as a hate crime. We mourn with the families of those who lost their lives, alongside the Muslim community in San Diego, our Muslim neighbors in Schenectady County and all who carry fear and sorrow in the wake of this tragedy. We give thanks for those whose courageous actions helped protect others — bearing witness, even in crisis, to the dignity of every human life. We prayerfully recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of building communities where all people can live and worship safely.

Together, we will lift up the plight, fight, and insight of poor and dispossessed communities while building the unity and organization needed to END POVERTY.

We are honored to be joined by Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis, author, Executive Director of the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights & Social Justice, and Co-Chair of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival.
