Steven Cagle will be at the console of the Claire Wofford Frazier Memorial organ at St. Luke's Church, Blue Ridge, on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022. The service begins at 9:30 a.m.
Mr. Cagle previously served as the organist at Jarvis Memorial Methodist Church in Greenville, N.C. He began his musical career in his home city of Atlanta., starting piano lessons at aged 6. During his high school years, he studied piano with Ruth Duncan McDonald at Georgia State University. His organ lessons began at the age of 12 with Jerry Black at Druid Hills Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in organ performance from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, where he studied organ and harpsichord with Paul Jenkins. He also served as organist for Stetson's Concert choir and University Chorus. He did his graduate work at the University of Michigan, where he studied with Robert Glasgow, earning a Master of Music degree in organ performance in 1981. He is a member of The American Guild of Organists.
Installed in 2020, the Claire Wofford Frazier Memorial organ was built in England by the Makin Organ Company, has 45 speaking stops and three manuals. Chapel Music of Lithonia, over saw its instalation.
