Your kids don’t need a perfect dad. They need a present one.
Father’s Day means a lot of different things to all of us. It’s a day of celebration but also a day to remember. We all have had a father or father figure who have shaped who we are in some way. And for those of us who are dads, we know that fatherhood is filled with wins and losses.
But here’s the great news: our job as dads is not to be perfect, it’s to be present.
How can we do that? By determining before life gets hard that our first pursuit will be Jesus. We need to abide in His Word. When we do, the mountaintop moments become opportunities to give Him all the credit. And when we find ourselves in difficult places, even places we created ourselves, He still shows up.
So today, we want to encourage every dad: make Jesus your number one pursuit. Then when your kids look to you, whether you’ve knocked it out of the park or fallen short, you’ll have something reliable to point them to, our perfect Heavenly Father.
Let’s keep chasing after Jesus and the freedom we find in Him.
