THE FOUNDATION OF THE CHURCH. βœοΈπŸ“–

"But who do you say that I am? (Luke 9;20)

The immensity of the question is staggering. When Peter answered I am sure it came with some hesitation. There was an anxious silence. It seemed absurd that this man should be the Son of God. Nommn̈ trumnpets, purple robes, no armies yet there was determination in his eye and a certainty in ',hidden by ţ Finally. Peter broke through the silence, " I believe you are the......the Son of God."

Many have loooked at Jesus, but few have seen him. They have seen his shadow, his story, but only a handful have looked through the fog of religiously and found him. Only a few have dared to stand eye to eye and heart to heart with Jesus and say, "I believe that you are the Son of God."

✝️ALL WE NEED IS JESUS✝️

"I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." (John 15:11)

I woke up in the middle of the night with this thought: " all we need is Jesus." Seems simple enough, but for most of the day I am dealing with problems or fighting with the windmills of my mind. I believe part of the problem is I am confusing happiness with joy. Happiness involves a "happening" and so often these happenings are not pleasant. But our journey with Jesus is not just enduring struggles, it's about experiencing true joy. This joy comes from knowing we are loved, accepted, and redeemed. Jesus invites us into a life that is full of joy. Once we embrace our need for Jesus, we allow His joy to fill us. Jesus is joy.

We bring on a lot of our problems through sin...deliberate disobedience to God's Word. The other is the works of Satan whose mission is to rob, steal, and destroy. He will make every effort to get us to abandon our faith. We can see by this that our need for Jesus culminates in a call to faith. It is a growing relationship with God that is relying on His promises and goodness, placing our trust in Him wholeheartedly. Faith is not a single act, but a continuous journey. Understanding this should remind us of our constant need for Him.

Still, where does our help come from? Our greatest help comes from the Holy Spirit. A born-again believer has the Holy Spirit, and the fruit of the Spirit is love, JOY,....... so all we really need is Jesus.

PREDICTION OF APOSTASY

"The Spirit clearly states that in the last times some will depart from the faith and pay attention to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils." (1 Timothy 4:1)

It is clear by the Holy Spirit that in the end times people will fall away from personal faith in Jesus Christ. Even some highly gifted ministers will depart from the faith, giving in to deception and enticement of evil spirits and false teaching. Because of their past effictiveness and position they will mislead many.

Many believers will abandon their faith because they will fail to love the truth enough to defend and obey it. This lack of devotion to the truth will cause believers to fall for the God-defying trends of the last days. Who would have thought that today we are told to understand trans gender, same s*x marriage, abortion on demand, and couples living together but not married. There will be some in the church who will not tolerate the truth if it challenges or contradicts with their own behavior and lifestyle. Thus we are finding little resistance to these compromising messages from educators and ministers in some churches.

1 John 2:15 tells us that we can not love the things of the world and love God. The Christian's protection against deception is complete dependence and loyalty to God and His inspired Word. And, we can expect an outpouring of God's Spirit in these last days. There will be revival in places and we are seeing that today especially with young people.
.Acts 2:17..."In the last days it shall be, says God, that I will pour our my spirit on all flesh;
Your son's and daughters shall prophesy.
Your young men shall see visions.
Your old men shall dream dreams.

"Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus."

A PROMISE OF TRIALS AND WISDOM

"Consider it all joy, my brethern when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.......and if you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." (James 1:2-5)

"Consider it all Joy." ....are you kidding me? You mean be happy when you are in an unlikely place called difficulty? Now this does not mean we should be happy for trials, remembering we bring some trials on ourself, but we have to realize that we are in a battle with Satan. He is trying to discourage, defeat, and discredit us.
James is telling us that we are going to have trials and tribulations. It is a matter of when....not if you face them. You can be certain that everyone seriously following Christ will at times face these trials. If not then they are no threat to Satan or perhaps they could be the 4th man in the Trinity.
Consider the following to obtain Joy:
Refocus, what is the outcome of what we are enduring? Follow the biblical admonition to closely reflect on it. Don't give up before your testing is over.
Know that our trials are not taking anything away from us. They are producing good things in us. Do not abort God's mission.
Let God's grace enable us to endure. In other words, don't waste our trials. We could be close to the end.
Finally, if we get to the place where we have no idea what to do.....ask God for wisdom. Put our trust in God and ask Him to give us guidance with confidence

OUR SOURCE FOR HOPE
βœοΈπŸ“–βœοΈ
" For those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not be faint." (Isaiah 40:31)

This verse emphasizes active hope, which involves trusting, waiting, and relying on God rather than human ability or circumstances. The term hope here is not just wishful thinking, it reflects a confident expectation of God's faithfulness and power.

This verse uses vivid imagery to convey spiritual renewal and empowerment. "Soaring on wings like eagles," symbolizes rising above difficulties with divine strength. Eagles rise effortlessly, riding air currents to gain height. "To run without growing weary and walk without fainting" illustrates sustained endurance and perseverance. God is providing the energy and resilience needed to face life's challenges.

The word Hope appears close to 100 times in the scriptures.. Hope is something we can trust, believe, and build a foundation upon.
Hope is expectant
Hope demonstrates trust in God forever
Hope is the foundation to faith
Hope is not a fleeting feeling
Hope is not a gamble
Hope is a gift from God
Hope believes that even death can't hold us from God's eternal plan.

Simply said: Wordly hope is wishful thinking.
Biblical Hope is a sure thing based on the promises and faithfulness of God.

MEDITATE ON HIS GOODNESS AND LOVE ❀️✝️

"That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you may be rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth, length, depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ that passeth all knowledge and that we might be filled with the fullness of God." (Ephesians 3:17-19)

There is nothing more powerful for gaining our affection than finding out that we are loved. Try it out! Tell your spouse, your children and grandchildren on a consistent basis how much you love them....then watch their response over time. But now consider that the God of this universe shows such love and kindness for us, this should overcome our spirits, melt our hearts and put our soul on fire.

All of God's Word and works proclaim his love loudly. He has given us our existance. He has placed us in a rich and furnished world that provides for our necessities. He rains down blessings from heaven which cause the earth to bring forth provisions. His Providence is always upon us and provides our safety even as we sleep.

But if we think these proofs of his kindness are nothing special, He has taken another method of endearing himself to us. The Eternal God clothed himself with the weakness of our flesh, left where He was adored and loved, and came to wrestle with the stubborn hesrts of a rebellious people to restore their joy and finally to offer himself up as a sacrifice and appeasement of God's wrath for them.
The account in the Gospels of our Savior's life continually demonstrate his love. The pains and troubles He endured are evidence of it. And how can we not remember that dismal scene on "Friday" and question his kindness or deny him ours?
God has put up with our sins for so long. He has waited to be gracious to us, wrestled with the stubbornness of our hearts, and tested every method to redeem us. His purpose is not to increase our guilt or damnation. No! God is love and He takes no pleasure in the ruin of his creatures.
If we consider the things that give birth to a real love and affection in our hearts toward Almighty God we can experience another level of real Christianity. For you see, just as we respond to love, God responds so much more when we truly love Him in our hearts.
YES, "THAT CHRIST MAY DWELL IN OUR HEARTS BY FAITH AND THAT WE MAY BE ROOTED AND GROUNDED IN LOVE....."

✝️ IT IS FINISHED ✝️

"When He had received the sour wine, He said, 'IT IS FINISHED, And He bowed His head and gave up His Spirit." (John 19:30)

This was not a cry of termination, but a shout of triumph, declaring the completion of Christ's work on the cross. This triumphant declaration was a signal that Jesus had fulfilled his earthly mission given by the father. It fulfilled the Old Testament prophecy about the Messiah's suffering and providing the perfect sacrifice for sin.
It secured the decisive victory over Satan and his network of demons; and achieved the means of restoring God's relationship with his creation and sinful humanity. Nothing can be or needs to be added to Christ's finished work on the cross....and the results are ongoing. Because Christ endured the punishment for our offenses and rebellion against God, He opened the way for people to have a relationship with Him. Accepting His sacrifice for ourselves and yielding our life to Him we will receive the gifts of forgiveness and eternal life.
The Creator was sacrificed for his creation. Thru this horrific event Jesus' mission was accomplished. Paying the perfect price for sin,He bridged the gap between a Holy God and sinful people. If we surrender our lives to the One who went to this extreme for us, we can experience the life he intends for us.

IT'S FRIDAY BUT SUNDAY IS COMING! πŸ‘πŸ™ŒβœοΈπŸŒΏ

A PROMISE OF GOD'S FAITHFULNESS

" Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say rejoice." (Philippians 4:4)

Paul was in prison, in chains, when this was written. Now I do not believe he was thinking "I am in prison and these chains are a blessing. I am so happy for the pain." I am sure he prayed for his release and at times cried out to God......Why? This would be our first impulse and God is patience with that cry. But that "Why" can be answered by His Word.

Paul realized he was appointed for the defense of the gospel. Christ is preached and in this I rejoice. Now what does that mean? I believe we are to place our lives in God's hands knowing He will take care of us. The gospel will be preached and Christ will be revealed no matter what the circumstances.

A long time friend of my wife had one of her legs removed when she was a teenager. She use to use crutches but now gets around in a wheel chair. There seems to be nothing she can't do. She drives, takes care of her husband, and is a wicked bridge player. Always in a good mood, she is a joy to be around. She is a testimony to everyone and her life preaches Christ as powerfully as any of Paul's sermons.

Is Christ being preached in our present trial? Do others see the gospel at work in us or do they only see panic, despair and questioning God's faithfulness. How do we respond to our afflictions?
