At Incarnation Anglican Church, we are rooted in Christ and the traditions handed down to the church from the Apostles; artistic in the way we live our lives and worship, and welcoming to all who come through our doors. We use art and liturgy to build a safe community for spiritual sojourners. We would love you to join us for worship! For a more detailed explanation, visit: http://incarnationmission.org/purpose.php

A day before he was assassinated, Martin Luther King gave this powerful speech. He appealed to some of America’s founding principles and admonished Americans to honor them in his day. He pointed out how often America did not live up to its own values, and how we could and should do better.

As we honor him today, it is more important than ever that we actually listen to his words. Heed his words. Apply his words to our present reality. And recognize that sometimes, that requires protest.

“The greatness of America is the right to protest for our rights…” MLK

Isaiah 10:1–2 (NIV)
“Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees.”

Micah 6:8 (NIV)
“What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

If you want to honor Dr. King today, please watch this shirt video, listen
to his final words, and then let us work together for a better nation.

Hello friends. It is January 6th, the Feast of the Epiphany. We remember the glorious revelation of the gospel to the entire world, as represented by the Magi. We are reminded that the light of Christ can shine in the midst of all darkness, and rulers of this world (like Herod) can not s***f it out.

And then we are reminded that today is also the 5th Anniversary of the insurrection, and realize that many of our friends, neighbors, and loved ones, celebrate what happened at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021. I know in times like this, it can feel like the Herods of this world are winning. Epiphany reminds us that this is NOT true. Light will always shine in the darkness, and the darkness will not overcome it.

As it happens, a great musical expression of this principle exists. Today, Amy Grant released a new single called "The 6th of January (Yasgur's Farm)" In it, she laments that many of the people that once sought out world peace and transcendence at Woodstock (held on Yasgur's Farm) have now given in to the corrupt political spirit of the age. She laments that we do not heed John Lennon's words, and imagine a better world and a better way to get there.

It is a subtle, yet powerful protest song, that I beleive is just what the world needs to hear today. Especially people in the church.

If you want to join in the "protest", I encourage you to go to Amy Grant's page and comment on the song. The same goes for her YouTube Channel. You will notice many of her fans saying very cruel things about her, as if she has somehow abandoned her faith in Jesus because of her subtle pushback against a Christian Nationalist narrative. Feel free to share this post or the song as well.

Honestly, if you don't want to do any of that but just want to be blessed, please listen to and enjoy the song. It really is quite beautiful, and was just the song I needed to hear today.

Third Sunday of Advent

Dear Friends of Incarnation:

Advent Greetings to you!

During the Season of Advent, we look forward with longing expectation to celebrating the arrival of Jesus at Christmas, but we also look forward to that future day when we know Jesus will return and make everything right in the world. At times, it feels like the world is completely falling apart around us. We need times like Advent to pause, pray, and be reminded that no matter how dark things may seem, in the end, the light of Christ will prevail!

We have all experienced many trials over the past year, but as a community we have continued to experience incredible blessings as we have blessed those around us. We experienced two adult baptisms, and gained several new members. We have partnered with First Methodist Church and helped the unhoused in our community, and we have created safe spaces for our q***r neighbors as well. We have shown overwhelming support for My Mother’s Voice, serving the underserved in our backyard and providing much needed meals for those in need. The Fig Tree Coffee Art & Music Lounge has continued to prosper, giving us all an incredible ministry footprint in the community. In August, Josh was consecrated as a Bishop in the Episcopal Free Fellowship of America, and both Phoenix and Jessica have continued on the path toward ordination. We have members helping those in the recovery community, and others engaged in prophetic activism. It truly is a blessing to serve alongside of all of you!

Today we begin our 2026 stewardship campaign, which will help us make a responsible budget for next year. Incarnation is entirely self supported. This means that all money for our staff, for rental of our worship space from Bethel Lutheran, and for other necessary expenses, is paid for by the generous tithes and offerings of our members. However, that doesn’t mean you should give just because you want our ministry to continue. If you consider Incarnation your church, you should also give because it is an act of spiritual discipline that will help change and transform you into the likeness and image of Christ.

The biblical word “tithe” literally means ten percent, and the principle of giving a tithe is found throughout scripture (see for example: Lev 27:30; Num 18:21; Prov 3:9; 2 Chron 31:4; Mal 3:10). An “offering” to God is anything beyond that initial ten percent you may decide to give (see 2 Cor 9:7; Rom 12:1). Tithes and offerings are both acts of worship that will help you on your spiritual journeys, and they help keep ministries like ours running.

At this time, we would like all our members to prayerfully consider how much they can commit to giving towards our ministry together on a monthly basis. We have opened up a portal online where you can enter that amount so that we can then plan our budget for 2026. Please visit the portal on our webpage, http://www.incarnationmission.org/donate/pledge-2026 and fill it out by Sunday, January 4th.

Thank you. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me, or our Senior Warden, Larissa Roe.
