Giving Thanksgiving for Every Good Thing — by Ken Birks

Today we celebrate Thanksgiving. May we be reminded of all that we have been given in Christ. Here’s a poem that helps us to be thankful on this day and throughout all eternity.

Psalm 107:31 Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness and for His wonderful works to the children of men!

With the slate wiped clean, we speak with a new script.
Making all things new, His wind blows upon the spirit.
With new perspectives on life, we speak accordingly.
No longer caught in meaningless chatter, we speak.
His word filling, new things are spoken into existence.

His blood washing, we speak according to the hope within.
No longer weighed down by the past, we confess His greatness.
More than conquerors, we believe in the greatness of His power.
Walking in His inheritance, we speak according to His calling.
Giving Thanksgiving every good thing, He leads triumphantly.

With the same spirit of faith as Jesus, we believe and speak.
With confession no longer based on uncertainties, we walk.
No longer driven by past failures, His word, we communicate.
Fully convinced of His promises, we go from faith to faith.
Knowing He works, leaving nothing undone, we give thanks.

Amid uncertainties, His word as a lamp, we move forward.
Given all things in life, we speak according to the promise.
As He cares for lilies and birds of the air, He cares for us.
Without thought for provision, we speak according to His word.
Without worry, we press on in faith, believing, giving thanks.

With faith in His covenant promises, we believe and speak.
Wavering not in unbelief, we push towards the promise.
With His promises, yea and amen, we rise to the challenge.
Resting in His sufficiency, no longer trusting in ours, we speak.
With divine abilities at work, we give thanks in all good things.

Scriptures to Meditate Upon
Romans 4:20, 2 Corinthians 4:13, 5:17, 21, Hebrews 9:14, Romans 8:37, 2 Corinthians 2:14, Psalm 119:105, Matthew 6:25-34, 2 Peter 1:2-3.

May God bless you richly as you thank Him for all the goodness He provides. May you unlock the treasures He has for you through the communication of your faith.

Finding Peace in Turbulent Times — by Ken Birks

Mind wandering, alarming thoughts lance the mind.
Awakened amid turmoil, blinded by fear, chaos confines.
Nowhere to disappear, anxiety grips with immobility.
Pungent odors intoxicating, thoughts reek with instability.

Frustrated to no end, lost in uncertainty, desperation stirs.
Hopeless, sinking fast, atmospheric assaulting explodes.
All seen and heard, brain fog reigns uncontrolled.
Gasping for air, setting sights on cruciality, we ponder.

How senseless, lambasting those who oppose.
Lost in senseless viciousness, skirmishes linger in haze.
Looking peaceably on all differing, caustic air dissipates.
Discovering lost times, thoughts anew awaken to stability.

Peace rescuing the soul, turbulence gives way to strength.
Focusing on atmospheric goodness, darkness unravels.
Embracing newness, uncertainty dead, stability unshackles.
Mobility restored; life’s purpose enlightens to days ahead.

Free to soar, limitless, we tread fearlessly in life’s adventures.
Hope restored, enjoyment accompanying, we live freely.
No longer alarmed , thoughts, give space to others.
Respecting one another regardless, we live peaceably.

Cultivating a Spirit of Newness— by Kenneth L Birks

Excerpt from my book, “Rise of the Anointed Ones”
https://booksbyken.com

Trampled by carnality and worldliness, the heart disengages.
Weighed down by worldly cares, the soil cries for righteousness.
Disillusionment taking over, the heart gives way to confusion.
Cracked and broken, the soil of the ground yearns to be plowed.
With the promise of righteous rain, prayers for rain are heard.

Let’s face it, we all desire new things. They inspire us until the newness begins to wear off. God’s desire for our lives is to give us a new heart that constantly springs forth with a sense of newness thrusting us forward into His purposes for our lives. However, it is our responsibility to cultivate our hearts so that we keep the essence of newness alive while engaging in His assignments.

Ezekiel 36:26-27 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

The problem is our hearts constantly get trampled on by the world and its desires along with life’s circumstances. We tend to become hardened as a result. Therefore, if we are to remain in a state of freshness with a constant sense of newness, our hearts need to be cultivated daily. We must continually break up the fallow ground of our hearts if we want the seed of newness to produce the desired fruit.

Hosea 10:12 Sow to yourselves righteousness; reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord till He comes and rains righteousness on you.

The word cultivate means to prepare for raising crops, loosen or break up the soil, foster growth, and improve by labor, care, or study. The next verse in Hosea explains why our hearts get hard from being trampled on. It says we partake of the fruit of lies and trust in our ways. The worldly system of thought is full of lies because the father of all lies, Satan, controls it. Yet, we find ourselves attracted to his lies and ways of thinking by trusting in our ways rather than God’s.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

As newness occurs, transformation sprouts with renewed reality.
The ground watered and nurtured, gives way to vitality.
With a spirit of joyfulness, the ground gives way to new fruit.
Immersed in wisdom and revelation, a surge of power is felt.
As downpours of righteousness extend, new fields are plowed.

In Sync with God’s Purposes — by Kenneth L Birks

Destined to be all that the Father’s called us to, we come.
Knowing we’re fearfully and wonderfully made, we give praise.
Acquainted with all our ways, He draws us unto Himself.
Wired by God, we’re designed to be in sync with His purposes.
From heaven above, He finds those who understand.

Beware of Deceptive Voices — by Kenneth L Birks

As church attendance becomes less and less important with the advent of the internet, social media and other forms of media, a great vacuum has been formed for Satan to unleash his seductive lies and collective mindset with the antichrist spirit gaining momentum across the globe. John, the beloved apostle, spoke of the antichrist spirit that is already in the world and how we are to exercise discernment.

1 John 4:1-3 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming and is now already in the world.

Whose voice comes across the screen of your mind the most on any given day? Think about it! It’s most likely what’s shaping the way you think and respond in a world that’s inundated with the god of this world.

Now is the time to avail ourselves to God’s word and fully immerse ourselves in it, lest we are taken captive by the many voices clamoring for our attention.
