Way to show up Evergreen fam— to our first congregational inductive bible study! It was a full house Palm Sunday as we took some intentional (less irritable?) time to take in the text. We also got to hear updates from our Thailand vision trip team! Thank you to everyone who attended, to the Taste of Home ministry who stuffed us w delicious chili, and the staff who helped prep and facilitate today’s study. 🙂‍↕️🙏🏼

This past Sunday, our Evergreen Family Ministries hosted “Love Our Neighbors – A Call to Action”—an interactive multi booth event aimed at supporting our immigrant neighbors impacted by the ICE raids. From a sweet, tangy lemonade fundraiser stand, to calling centers booths for all ages to reach out to our local reps, an arts station to craft hand drawn cards to kids in detention centers (and more!), it was an empowering and inspiring time. We are ready to love and take action on behalf of all those in need of God’s justice. Thank you to all the ministry staff and volunteers who planned and made this event possible!

We celebrate the ministry and legacy of Pastor Shirley Lew - our longest serving female pastor and pillar in our Evergreen church family. Pastor Shirley has taught and guided a wide range of the congregation- from infants to Prime Timers - and has been a spiritual guide for all in our congregation. We pray that the season of retirement will be full of joyful moments, new adventures, and deep relationships for both PShirley and Virgil. We thank God for her service and celebrate the impact she has had!

As we conclude our year of Sacred Celebration, we consider the ancient stories of Advent. The circumstances around Jesus’ birth were far from the thematic characteristics we recognize with our weekly candle lightings. Any celebration of what His birth brought was a promise of a future reality, not of something that had come to pass. Today, Christians continue to celebrate and reflect on these divine prophecies of hope, peace, joy, and love – waiting with anticipation when the injustice and brokenness of our current world is remade anew in the risen Christ. Join us this Advent as we consider how Jesus’ birth teaches us to engage in prophetic celebration of God’s coming future!
