Hello friends!

Greetings from Los Angeles, CA and the operation of Catholic Polytechnic University. I am Sam Laganà, and recently President Nolan and the CPU Board appointed me as Chancellor, for which I feel very blessed.

This is my first foray into saying hello and telling you about some of the ways we are advancing Catholic Polytechnic for the good of our students and operations.

The winter/spring semester ended last week and summer session classes for undergraduate and graduate students are beginning soon. The online experience with wonderful professors is fairing well. The admissions and marketing team members are on task to align more students and continue the progress with the degrees in computer science at the intersection of faith. Dr. Nolan has faculty and staff energized as well as students.

Thank you for your generous gift(s) to Catholic Poly in the past. In my role, I will report to Dr. Nolan and coordinate advancement efforts and assist with guidance from my background in educational administration. We are gaining momentum every day.

One of trusted advisory board members introduced us to a wonderful concept for a golf fundraiser that will take place next month in Orange County. Please take the time to review the materials attached about the unique opportunity surrounding our upcoming Catholic Polytechnic University Golf-A-Thon on June 15 at Bella Collina Golf Club in San Clemente.

On that day, participants will each play up to 100 golf balls to benefit Catholic Polytechnic University. I’ll be playing as part of the Catholic Poly team, and I’d be grateful for your support through a pledge—anywhere from $5 to $500 per ball I play (with a maximum of 100 balls). Of course, you’re welcome to contribute at any level that feels right to you. All donations are tax-deductible and directly support our mission of providing a tuition debt-free education for our students. We would be honored to have you partner with Catholic Poly in what has proven to be a high-impact, low-effort fundraising initiative. More importantly, this event offers a tangible way to strengthen the vital work our University carries out each day—forming minds, shaping culture, and advancing a culture of life grounded in Faith, Hope, and Love.

This initiative is intentionally designed to generate meaningful financial support—without adding operational strain.
Here’s what makes this opportunity especially compelling:

* Completely turn-key — All planning, logistics, and ex*****on are handled. Your role is simply to support those playing on behalf of Catholic Poly.
* Zero financial risk — Every dollar you contribute goes directly to Catholic Poly; all event costs are covered separately by the event producers.
* 100% tax-deductible — Every contribution directly supports Catholic Polytechnic University.
* Minimal time commitment — No need to step away from work or family; you can make a meaningful impact simply by contributing and, if you choose, inviting others to do the same.

Our goal is simple: to create a focused, distraction-free pathway for our mission to grow—so that more resources can be directed toward protecting the most vulnerable and expanding our impact.

In the spirit of shared mission, we are partnering with the Fruitful Futures Project to help drive this effort. This collaboration enables us to sustain and expand this golf fundraising model, and cover a portion of the costs required to make this possible. If you’d like to join me on the course—I'd love that. Email, or text me, and I’ll share the details. I am traveling this week so if my response is delayed, please excuse me.

To pledge your support, simply email me at

with your per-ball commitment. I’ll follow up with instructions on how to complete your donation when I return from my personal travels, which includes a visit to some important places of worship in Florence and Rome like Castel Gondolfo above Vatican City.

Thank you for your consideration and support—it truly makes a difference.

With gratitude,

Sam Laganà

Catholic Polytechnic University Appoints Samuel Carl Laganà as Chancellor

Veteran Higher Education Leader and Fundraising Executive to Drive
Institutional Growth, Advancement, and Community Engagement

LOS ANGELES, CA — Catholic Polytechnic University (CatholicPoly), a nonprofit Catholic institution of higher education dedicated to the intersection of faith and science/technology disciplines in Los Angeles, California, today announced the appointment of Samuel Carl Laganà as its inaugural Chancellor. Effective March 16, 2026, Laganà brings more than three decades of executive leadership in higher education, advancement, and institutional development to help establish the university’s financial foundation and scale its mission-driven growth.

In his role as Chancellor, Laganà will work in support of Founding President & CEO, Jennifer Nolan, Ph.D., to lead fundraising and advancement strategies, build and mentor a development team, engage key stakeholders across Southern California and beyond, and strengthen CatholicPoly’s standing within civic, philanthropic, and academic communities. He will also serve on the university’s governing board, contributing strategic vision to the institution’s long-term trajectory and scale his role and commitment to expand alongside the institution’s growth.

“CatholicPoly is building something extraordinary — a university where faith and the most transformative technologies of our era come together. I am honored to serve as Chancellor and committed to helping build the foundation that will allow this institution to flourish for generations to come.”
— Sam Laganà, Chancellor, Catholic Polytechnic University
“Sam Laganà is exactly the kind of leader CatholicPoly needs at this pivotal moment in our history. His proven ability to build lasting donor relationships, inspire communities, and translate institutional vision into tangible results will be invaluable as we grow. We are thrilled to welcome him to our founding team.”
— Jennifer Nolan, Ph.D., Founding President & CEO, Catholic Polytechnic University

Laganà arrives at CatholicPoly with an exceptional record of institutional advancement. As President & CEO of Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, he oversaw day-to-day operations, the overall annual operating budget and the endowment, led campaigns that constructed a multimillion-dollar STEAM Center, and delivered consecutive revenue surpluses that strengthened reserve funds and expanded financial aid. Prior to that, he served for two decades at Pepperdine University, culminating as Associate Vice Chancellor for Advancement & Public Affairs, where he raised significant resources over his final four years alone and made substantial contributions to the university’s major gift, estate planning, and corporate partnership strategies.

His deep roots in Los Angeles — spanning roles at California State Universities Dominguez Hills and Northridge, the Los Angeles Athletic Club, and as a long-standing board leader for the John R. Wooden Award Foundation and the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission — position him as a uniquely connected and community-oriented leader for CatholicPoly’s continued evolution. Sam is an active member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and recently received the Catholic Charities of Los Angeles Humanitarian Award, in September 2025, for his servant leadership commitment to Our Lady of Angels Region.

Laganà holds a Presidents & Key Executives MBA from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio Business School, with a capstone focused on Nonprofit Philanthropic Leadership and Board Engagement, as well as a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola Marymount University. Sam is a recognized announcer who has served as the stadium voice for Los Angeles Rams football since 2016 and will continue in that GameDay role.
