God Reassures Us…

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:3 KJV

To be physically poor is to lack resources or material possessions. The word "poor" might trigger a mental image of someone who can't pay their bills, can't break free from the cycle of poverty, or can't afford food, clothing, or shelter.

So what does it mean to be spiritually poor, and why does Jesus think that's a good thing?

Those who realize their own spiritual poverty know that, without God, they are spiritually bankrupt. Those who are poor in spirit understand the desperation of their situation—that they can have nothing, do nothing, and be nothing without Him. Those who are poor in spirit recognize that it's humility, not pride or self-reliance, that's a common characteristic in the kingdom of heaven.

Those who are poor in spirit know that they can't, but they trust that God can.

If we're honest, most of us would prefer to be rich, comfortable, and self-dependent. We would rather lack nothing. But even if we happen to be financially stable or physically healthy, we cannot save our own souls.

We were created to need God.

So if you're feeling weak, weary, or worn out, it's okay. If you feel like you have nothing to offer, Jesus actually says that you are blessed.

When you have a need, He can meet it. When you're not enough, He already is. And when you feel poor in spirit, you are in the perfect position to be saved and filled by God.

PRAYER
God, help me. Here I am—I need You. I am nothing without You. You are the giver of every good and perfect gift, and You are all I need. Please restore my hope and joy, and draw me closer to You. Make me aware of how You are at work in my life, and teach me how to rejoice in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Allow God To Lead And Guide You…

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

When you feel stuck or uncertain, remember this: God doesn't leave you to figure things out alone. The Holy Spirit guides those who belong to Him. If you’re willing to listen and follow, He’s already showing you the way forward as you take it one step at a time.

Application
As you go about your day today, keep in mind whenever you feel directionless, take a moment and ask God for His guidance. Ask Him to lead you today, then trust that He will.

God wants us to flourish.

John 15:2 KJV
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Who wants to acknowledge what's dead and unproductive in their lives? Who wants to trim back what's already blooming—leaving you smaller, awkward, and feeling extra weak?
But pruning is exactly what we need to keep producing fruit.

Jesus mentions two separate actions in this process—cutting off what's dead and pruning fruit.

Cutting out what's dead makes sense. It's extra weight, it's unproductive, it's blocking sunlight, and it's stealing good energy from branches that could thrive. But without proper context, pruning fruit feels backwards.

However, the purpose of pruning isn't to disable something, but to revitalize it.

If a branch is weak or diseased, it could not only damage itself, but the surrounding trees as well.
Without pruning, both the tree and the life surrounding it can never reach full potential.
Pruning creates room for more growth.
Pruning stimulates production.

Pruning keeps the plant or person strong.
God is a good Gardener. He wouldn't be a good Gardener if He left you to yourself—overgrown, ineffective, and full of dysfunction. But He cares for those He loves. He cuts off what's dead for your benefit. He lovingly trims back ineffective things in your life to make way for more fruit.
You can trust God with your life because He cares about who you are and who you can become.

💭What "dead branches" are you dragging around? Is it possible that God is pruning you for future growth?

Be Encouraged
The purpose of pruning isn't to disable us, but to revitalize us. We can trust God—no matter the season.

PRAYER
God, You know everything about me. You know the areas of my life that have potential, but are being held back by broken patterns, sinful habits, and unhealthy relationships.
Please bring healing to my life by cutting away
anything that's cluttering or destroying my heart and mind. Transform me so that I continue to bear healthy fruit. In Jesus' name, Amen.

“Flesh VS Spirit”

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:3-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Spiritual warfare is real, and so are the battles that come with it. Some battles are short, while others can last longer. However, as Christians, we have the victory—even over our flesh. Scripture tells us in Galatians 5:16-17, “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.”

Before we were in Christ, we were good at being bad. Now that our lives are in Christ, we find ourselves bad at being good! Our flesh and our spirit are in constant battle. The spirit side of us desires to glorify God, live holy, live in righteousness, and live a life of worship. Yet, our fleshly/sinful side desires to live in selfishness and complete rebellion against God. Keep in mind, what we feed the most will win!

If we keep feeding our flesh, we will find ourselves outside of the presence of God and outside of His will. Feeding the flesh glorifies the enemy! When we don’t feed our spirit, we lose track of God’s purpose and direction for our lives. We must learn to defeat our flesh by feeding our spirit! Start by dropping pride and allowing the Lord to reign supreme in your life.

Connect with other strong believers to keep you accountable in your walk with Christ. Make sure the Word of God is in your mind, worship is in your heart, and praise comes from your mouth! Defeating the flesh depends on you feeding your spirit and starving your flesh. Today, don’t give the enemy praise by giving into fleshly things. Instead, give God glory by feeding your inner spirit and living in victory!

PRAYER OF THE DAY:
Father God, in the name of Jesus, I ask that the Holy Spirit take full reign and control of my life. I denounce all the works of my flesh and submit them under the control of Your Holy Spirit within me. Forgive me, Lord, for giving my flesh too much power. I take back that power in Jesus' name! Thank you, Lord, for granting me victory through Jesus. Today, I make a commitment to daily submit my life under Your total control. In Jesus' name, amen!

I Am Forgiven

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God doesn't hold our past against us. When we confess our sin, He’s faithful to forgive. Not because we earned it, but because of His character.

This isn't conditional love that waits for you and I to be perfect. It's covenant faithfulness that says: you're clean, you're free, you're forgiven.

Today Replace those Negative Thoughts of:"God is still disappointed in me for what I did.”

With…

The Truth:I am forgiven. God is faithful and just to forgive me.

Think About It:Is there something you keep replaying in your mind that God has already forgiven? What would change if you started believing you're as forgiven as He says you are? 💭

Scripture Text: Acts 2:1-4 KJV

Live Empowered

Acts 1:8 KJV
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The Holy Spirit is available to anyone who becomes a follower of Jesus, empowering them to live out the calling God has placed on them.

The Holy Spirit is a gift from our heavenly Father that helps us live in a way that honors God and reflects His character. When we allow the Holy Spirit to shape us, He transforms the ways we think and act.

It's the Holy Spirit who empowers us to make
Jesus known throughout the world.

For this reason, living a Spirit-filled life requires intentionally seeking God every day. It's through intentional time with God that we discover how to make disciples. Then, as we go through life, the Holy Spirit will help us joyfully and boldly make Jesus known to the people He places around us. He will give us the insight, discernment, and courage we need to show Jesus' love to others.

PRAYER
Father God, You are faithful! Nothing is impossible for You— because all authority is Yours. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, and for empowering me with this authority through Your Holy Spirit. Please teach me how to walk in Your boldness. Help me to notice opportunities to share the Good News of the Gospel with others. In Jesus' name, Amen.

You Are Not Alone

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God doesn't just promise to stay with you when things are going well. He promises He is with you wherever you go. That means you can face uncertainty, change, and even loneliness with courage because you're not carrying it alone. His presence is constant, not conditional.

The negative thoughts of being alone and no one seems to understand what you’re going through.
Remember, remember God's presence changes the way you respond.

He’s always there!
