John Hyde (1865–1912), often known as “Praying Hyde,” was a missionary to India whose life became marked by extraordinary intercession and spiritual power. Serving with the Punjab Mission, he devoted himself to intense, prolonged prayer, often for hours or days, seeking the salvation of souls and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Hyde became known for praying specific numbers of conversions and seeing them answered, and his burden for the lost was so deep that it reportedly affected his physical health. His life stands as a powerful example of how fervent, Spirit-led prayer can impact nations and bring revival.
