Severe Weather is expected for some of the South Plains on Tuesday, May 31st, 2022.

The highest likelihood for severe weather exists to the north of the Highway 82 corridor, and to the east of the Interstate 27 corridor.

Damaging winds as high as 80 MPH, hail up to 3" in diameter, a tornado or two, and localized flooding are all possible.

Timing will be from 5 PM CDT through 2 AM CDT. Be sure to have multiple ways to receive watch and warning information. Heads up y’all, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Central Roosevelt County and South central Curry County has been issued. The storm could produce up to 60 mph winds and half dollar size hail. Locations impacted include: Portales, Floyd, Cannon Air Force Base and Oasis State Park. This includes Highway 60 between Mile Markers 376 and 382.

The warning remains in effect until 7:45 this evening.
