Enjoying spring in our new home. This week we are preparing to welcome Fr Ron Richardson who is coming to try us out for a few days and Fr Don Babinski who is coming up from N Carolina on a Mercy Air transport. Bishop Wcela is also living with us now and he is a great blessing for the house. The old Maude Adams farmhouse is finished with the necessary engineering work and we are starting to set it up. The 312 building is now Our Lady of Trust guest house and Fr Tom Murray is our guest master. We have rooms for any priest who wants an overnight getaway or a retreat. The four hermitages are also available for retreats. We recently were blessed with two young priests from Rockville Centre and NY archdiocese who made retreat with us. Our open house was a big success. Lots of priests and deacons stopped by to check out the new Pius Residence and we got great reviews! Think of us for your annual retreat, especially as the weather is getting nice: we have 46 beautiful acres here in Ronkonkoma.

Well it has happened! We have moved to our new home: 310 Cenacle Rd, Ronkonkoma, NY. Still unpacking and getting settled but we can accommodate more men and offer a greater range of care and living situations.

Finally, we all have received both vaccines. Fr Peter Liu is home again from the rehab and doing well. Fr Joe Arevalo is home too. We welcomed Msgr John Heinlein to our residence. Holy Week was beautiful and we look forward to celebrating the Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is good to have everyone back home again!

This has been a most difficult winter. Msgr Tom Candreva peacefully went home to the Lord on Christmas Day after years of fighting the good fight against cancer. On Dec 27, Msgr Jack Alesandro unexpectedly passed away, perhaps from complications from his recently diagnosed ALS. Then we discovered we had all been exposed to the virus. Testing showed that 17 of us were positive and 5 of us negative. Of the positive priests, Fr Joe Coscignano died first, followed by by Msgr Tom Spadaro and lastly Fr John McCabe, our most senior priest at age 92. To compound the sorrow for us, since we were quarantined, none of us were able to attend the funerals. We rejoice that our brothers are participating in the heavenly Liturgy before the altar of God but we are heartbroken at their passing and our inability to concelebrate their funeral Masses. The remaining men are all stable and seem to be symptom free. We look forward to our next testing date and pray that the remaining positive results will change over to negative as we manage to overcome this virus with God’s help and the prayers of so many of you. May our patron, St. Pius X, intercede for us.

Please pray for us. 15 of our senior priests have tested positive for the virus. 7 are negative (including me so that I can take care of the rest). 4 of the positive guys are now in hospital. 11 are recovering at Pius. Please pray for healing for us. We are all quarantined for the time being.

Pray for Msgr Pat Armshaw, retired pastor of St Francis Assisi in Greenlawn. After a long and painful struggle with cancer, the merciful Lord took Fr Pat in his loving embrace and set him free from all his suffering. Fr Pat's funeral will be on Tuesday, Nov 3 at 11 AM in St Francis Church in Greenlawn. May he rest n peace.

Father Callan went home to the Lord. With God’s blessing he didn’t suffer at the end. Fr Ed Seagriff has just moved in. We are so happy to welcome him to our house. On September 10 we will welcome Msgr Donald Bennet. That will pretty much fill us up at this location. That’s why we are looking forward to the eventual move to the Cenacle property.
