What we learned last night:
Have you ever been texting someone, and all of a sudden they stop responding, but “left you on read”? You can see they read the message, but just didn’t respond. The ultimate insult: “You’re not worth of my time”. Do you ever feel like you’re “left on read” with the Lord?
John 10:27 tells us how often he communicates with us. The problem is never with our Shepherd. He never stops leading and never stops speaking. It’s a signal problem not a speaking problem. The reality is that it’s our poor reception that keeps us from receiving a message that had already been sent to us! God is always speaking and sending us messages, but we’re not always in range of good signal. Maybe it’s poor choices, laziness, or fill in the blank… but some of us have removed ourselves from being in proximity of God’s voice. Scripture says his sheep KNOW his voice.
If you’re in a place with bad reception, what do you do? Move immediately. If you were separated from your signal, you would resolve it as fast as you possibly could. If you are separated from your spiritual signal, are you moving fast to take action? Are you getting back in the word? Walking away from bad influences? Etc. What is keeping your signal stuck in bad reception? Where do you need to move to tune back into God? Make steps towards being closer to God so that you can hear what he has to say. When our signal is really bad, often times we just restart our phone hoping it will work. Sometimes it even does! Do you need a restart to boost our signal and tune into God more.
Questions to think on:
1. Have you ever felt like God has not been very present? Describe that time.
2. How is your spiritual signal? Are you tuned in, have weak signal, or no service?
3. Where do you need to move to tune back into God?
4. What is one thing you can do this week to know God’s voice more intimately?
